I know what a percolator is, but what makes one a forced perc? Been wonering about this for a couple of years....:puzzled:

a forced perc is the same as a stemless, water filtration w/o a downstem.

So if I understand correctly theres no diference between a regular stemless bubbler (AKA a perc) and a forced perc. They are the same animal.

what max said is pretty much what i thought too...
but another thing to consider, or might be in the definition for one of these, is when the "external stem" isn't a separate piece, but rather part of the original form.. ie:
a very big sherlock could be filled with water, and if the stem were big enough, you wouldn't get water to the mouthpiece. the air would bubble through the water where the bend is. (i'd call this forced perc.. but.. i've never understood percolation anyway.)

http://www.glasspipes.org/Gal22929_Gong_sherlocks.asp this page won't load for me, i can't link directly to the closeup of what i'd like to.. but..
there's at least ONE closeup that has a setup that is probably closer to a real coffee percolator than anywhere else. i think it's black white clear.. hard to really see. it has a stem going UP into an upsidedown "cup" with holes near the "cup"'s base for diffusion..

just throwing a wrench in the gears
