As a production worker. Making tubes on a lathe. Not the most exotic job. But hey i get to learn the ins n outs.
They also have a full up shop. Lap wheel, benches, blasting cabinet.
Now my movment towards the city is coming together. The things all start to fall in place. This guy said i can use the shop on my off time and he will teach me what ever i want to learn.
But the main part of the job is making prodo, 8 hours a day, five days a week. Good way to get in the groove.
I am on my way home!!!!!:bouncy:

Around Long Island. 30 minute train ride from Brooklyn. He even said I could use the shop on my free time, and they would teach me what ever else they can on the side. Got to drive 2 hours for the meeting and to see the shop on sat. He even said that he feels like i am in the "IN" group out of the other aplicents. Since i have gone to some classes and have a general knowledge of boro. I was honest with him about what i can do. Told him i have only worked on small things and never got into hollow stuff or using a lathe. He said no problem, we can train you.
Now i got to get an apartment in the next couple weeks. Fuck yeah
Movin on up, to the east side......

13 to start. Not great, but hey you got to start somewhere. But i hope to maybe talk him into 15. Maybe give him a guilt trip like, man rent is 900 a month. It's going to take 3 weeks for me to pay the rent.
He said 13 to start, but once i get going i will get a raise. Thats fine i can work nights running plates, or doing something in the food industry maybe get a job at a bar.... Most people in NYC work a few jobs.
Not really interested in having much free time. Just want to work my ass off and have some fun while doing it.
I got plenty of projects to work on, on the side. I got mad ideas with t shirt designes. I got 70 new stencils waitimg to be screen printed. They will also work with Graal and glass etching. So maybe i can work a whole prodo line with shirts and glass.
congrats on the life progress. before you start dreamin' about that deluxe apartment in the sky give yourself a minute to realize that you are in for some hard work. 40 hour weeks in a production shop have turned many aspiring glass artists into burned-out quitters. i'm not suggesting that this will happen to you but you can make sure that you thrive in such a challenging environment by realistically preparing yourself for the situation. if you take good care of yourself you will have a rewarding experience. i wish you all the best, really. this was just a word of caution.
peace, m

Most of my jobs have never been easy thats for sure. I been climbing trees and cutting them down for a while. Then before that I was a mason and a landscaper.
I think this job would help me out a lot. Like instead of paying to learn they pay me. Free training. Even though i never thought i'd be doing something like this. It is repetitive, but it will give me the eye for detail and consistency.
Ok i got to go get ready for the trip.
Laterz
I hear ya though, nothing is easy.

Well I met the guy's. Really nice people. I see myself getting along real well. I start in a week. Doing prep until my arm is healed. I only got one and a half hands as of now. But thats enough to cut sections and watch. Really nice product line. Really nice people! 4 blocks from the beach! They are doing triple chamber percs and a bunch of other stuff. They got slumping kilns, sandblasting cab, 3 benches and 3 lathes. Now i need to find a place to live in the city!
I look at this job as a good way to whip my ass into shape. Learn the ins and outs of production work, and get training. It's perfect.
Sure i could make more on my own. But you know we all got to start some where.
Rock on yall and thanks for the words.
I am freakin lovin life at this moment.
Now on my free time i am going to bust out a few cases of wine glass tops and feet. So when i can i can make my own stems. But the slumping oh yeah i can do crazy stuff with that as well.
I am truely blessed!

see if he will trade pay for blanks. Add a few marbles, turn a $20 blank into a $50 -$75 tube and your gettin PAID!
