View Full Version : Where can I get a 10mm marble mold
Does anyone know? I talked to all my suppliers and no one has one that small. I have to make a shit load of glass eyes with a 10mm diameter. My smallest is 14mm and its hard to get a 10mm marble round in a 14mm mold. Any help would be great.
Thanks

Do they have to be completely round? Seems like you could spin out 10mm spheres pretty easily without a mold.

most 5 in 1 or 6 in 1 marble molds have something like 10mm.. i don't know if it's exactly or not, but it's at least very close. definately smaller than 14mm, and i think the smallest is smaller than 10mm.
z--seth ask colored sands to measure theirs. that's where i got mine from. www.lampworkingsupplies.com
They are eyes for picture animation dolls so they need to be perfectly round so that they can adjust the eyes mm's at a time for each shot. I'm going to try to just hand spin them but they need every eye to be a match so it would just be easier if i had a 10mm mold
I have a 7 in 1 mold and the smallest is around 14mm maybe its 12mm
sweet firekist. They have a 3/8" that should work. Have you tried that black tubing they have? is it any good?

Maybe ask Beav-is-4. He makes some marble molds, perhaps he could custom a 10mm for ya.

i was about to say try drilling a dime in your block of grafite, but i think a dime is a couple mm bigger that that. well that works pretty good anyway for a getto mold. If you can find somthing 10mm flat and round, like a coin you could do it your self and cheap. just chuck it into your drill and go slowly but fast rpm's.

hey snyder, i haven't ordered the black tube from colored sands, but i have used some black tube that is pretty nice. i have heard there is some good black tube, and some bad black tube. i don't know how to tell them apart, or what is "bad" about the "bad" stuff.
i'm glad they had something that works! ask chris about the tube, she'll give an honest assessment of it (at least.. i think she will ... >:) )

ten mil. is super small for a marble mold. i'm sure you can get it round w/o a mold and probably just need it to verify that they are all exactly the same size. if this is the case then you could just drill a 10 mil. hole in something to check the size.

Nathan,
How are your wives????
Alright, so I would get a 7mm-8mm drill which is 1/4" to 9/16" and use that size for shaping. To check sizing, i would use a 3/8" bit to drill the graphite(right at 10mm).Use a countersink bit for the 1/4"-9/16" and it will be coned like an infinity mold.
Trade me a couple of wives and I'll make them for you(lol).
Peace,
Wil

I Got one of them to start making beads. She will be in vegas with me at the end of the month so you will get to meet one of the many many wifes.
Thanks everyone for all ya help. It is mainly for size consistency. Lots and Lots of little glass eyes. At $15 a pop its well worth it.
