Lampworking-Supply.com was formed to help artists get the best possible deals for their glass blowing/lampworking/torchworking creations as well as offering a few links to promising galleries to help them sell some art.
We have set up an educational section in our website to help artists network with each other and enhance their craft.

Cool. I couldn't find the gallery section where artists are displaying their works, but maybe that cause its a new site and no one has put any up yet?
I hope you got permissions from Milon Townsend and the Grateful Dead Publishing (blues for allah image at bottom) to use their work, I wouldn't want you to get in trouble!
Good job on the site.

Not trying to be a dick but... i would not buy from your site. its way to jumbled and hard on the eyes, lots of spam, ads ads ads ads ads = not good
you should tone it down a bit. i did not even know it was a place to buy product because of all the adsense ads, and you got a huge half page ad for allposters.com, are you a poster site or a glass site?. just my few pennies. good luck with your new site

Our site is a directory designed to offer a wide range of products and links. We offer posters as well as books and videos via amazon.com and allposters.com and adsense.
I added a poster section because of all the interesting glass blowing pics with the hopes that they could enhance artist glass studios.
I will do my best to improve the site and add interesting resources. It will continue to grow and evolve with new products. Stay Tuned!

Hello Forum:chilling: ,
Sorry some of you don't like the site. I'm sure one or two will benefit from something on it.
It really does have some content and is definately not all ads. I tried to include some history, education, links and will make it a greater resource through the years and I hope people take a second to give the site a chance and at least bookmark it.
Yes it has ads, and if people purchase those products the businesses/artists sell more books, dvd's, eyewear, etc... yes I would make pennies. Why do you sell your glass/art? I know you love your art, so do I.
I will make it more user friendly and should have stated it was an ever evolving project designed to expand with details. It is a passion and a fun project.
If anyone is interested in a free link to help sell their art. I will help free of charge simply send your business logo and URL. Hope I connect with someone.

Are you selling glass tools and supplies, or selling advertising space on a site with a confusingly similar name to legitimate retail suppliers?
All the "valid" content in the world doesn't make up for a site over run with banner ads and spam.
are the "pennies" worth the negative reputation?
Can you not sell enough legitimate product, or are you underselling yourself, and require the ads for added revenue to stay afloat? Dare I suggest that's a failing business plan?
and some design notes:
First off, I can't tell what your site is about. At first glance it seems to be a half-hearted attempt to sell glass supplies. on further inspection all it seems to be is cut-and-paste jobs of manufacturers info and links to distributers. You need to clearly define the scope and intention of the site. original content would also help.
The background is _HORRIBLE_ it's way too busy and it makes your site look more like a crappy myspace page than a legitimate retail glass supply business. Try a solid color or a very subtle low-contrast, low-saturation image.
The 1/2 of the page filled with non glass related advertisements obfuscates the intention of the site. Ditch the poster ads - they have NOTHING to do with your site and are more confusing than inspiring. If you want to sell posters make a poster site.
scrolling / blinking text is an eye strain and is unneccesary - say what you want to say in a static format, using color, size, white space, and weight to draw attention to important information.
If you do intend to be a supplier and not an information site then ditch the goooooogle ads - what's the point in linking to competition?
anyways... all in all I'd give your site, as it stands now, a 20/100 score. There is much room for improvement, and I wish you luck with it.

the name issue is a very valid question.

domain names: You have got to be kidding me. I am not pretending to be either of those other sites you refered to. I think they are great. Do you know how many domain names there are? LOL
half-hearted: You have no idea , nor right to judge. Oh holy one.
what's the point in linking to competition: I have no competition what-so-ever and it is wonderful.
I'm just looking to sell some products through amazon, which by the way benefits the actual suppliers, and offer a network of links.
Dare I suggest that's a failing business plan: Dare you?
P.S. My site is getting worked on daily and I will give it justice? Where is yours greymatter?
Just looking to help a few folks out.

I wouldn't buy from there either. Looks shady an so are your responses. And the name is way to close to todds biz. Maybe I'll start a biz caled generationglass blowing, not generationsglass blowing, see I added a -s-, totally different name.....
btw, who are you? no intro to how long you've been working etc. You a nooob?

even if the domain names are close you would be able to tell if you weren't at the right site.
i think it's looking better already with the background toned down...not sure what else you changed yet but it's a good start. i think glassblowers are more conscientious about annoying flashing websites because we like our eyes to rest when we're not on the torch, but really i've seen way way way worse sites out there.
also i noticed you added a link to me and pakoh. very kick ass! thanks a bunch for doing that. :D
and now i have a place to go to look for glass related stuff without having to swim through lots of unrelated stuff at amazon. good deal if you ask me. :D
keep up the good work.

Thanks somberbear and pyrochix for the positive words! I have toned down the site and am adding content everyday! Sorry if the crazy colors drive some of you nuts, everyone's suggestions/comments do mean a lot to me, and I will always try to listen!
I have created a section as a directory for artists on a few websites. I look forward to networking with more artists along the way...If you have a site you would like to promote, send me a Private Message with a link and I will link to your site to help you gain some awareness to your project.

Looking better....
I think the scope / intention is more clear at this point...just another commercial portal site...if your intentions are reasonable then so be it....
good luck with the site.
oh, and domain names...it's not about how many there are, it's how what's available gets used. There are thousands of sites that target mistypes urls, or are confusingly similar in content and name to get higher rankings on google.
I'm not accusing you of any such tactics, just putting the concept out there....
