Reputation system changes

You start with a rep of 10 points and rep altering power of 0
(your points are your reputation and your rep altering power is how many points you give out to others)


For every 365 days you gain 1 point of rep altering power

For every 1000 posts you gain 1 point of rep altering power

For every 200 points of reputation, you gain 1 point of rep altering power.

You need to have more than 25 posts before your reputation hits count on others.

You have to give 10 users rep hits before you can hit the same person again.

well, you have a rep altering power of 2 and 27 rep points. which means you have earned 17 rep points for helpful posts, and when you give rep points to others you give 2 at a time.

they give you that one cute little blue square under your info there on the right. if you hoover over it, it tells you something, depending on how many points you have.

oh i missed your 10,000 posts comment. actually a lot of the posts are from the bead girl section of the forum. we're chatty chicks that's for sure...

it's kinda like in the days where women used to get together to iron and talk and exchange cleaning tips lol. a lot of the comments are very short, so yeah i ended up with a hell of a lot of posts quickly!

and stuff gets automatically removed for getting negative reps.

actually it's helped moderate the forum a lot. it's almost self moderating now, which means a lot less work for the people who work here. which means we get to do other stuff with our time like install wiki's and library's. ;)

I have a suggestion. The way giving rep. points woks now, if I leave pos. rep. for a user, I have to give it to 10 others before I can hit that person again. I think 10 is excessive. I understand you probably don't want people artificially inflating each other's points, which would be easy to do if they didn't have to spread the love around. But, I leave points sometimes, and I find that certain people leave very informative and/or entertaining posts more than others. I can't give them points again when they make worthy posts because 10 other people haven't caught my eye. Maybe a lower number, I don't know, 5? Just a thought.

I think that's right. And your rep power is based on your rep points, and your post count, right? So since he has rep points, he should have rep power... its not something that can be "used up", is it? It just keeps building, along with your rep points and post count. This has got to be some kind of weird glitch, or an admin turned it off (probably by accident).

I think the first post in this thread explains how it works, your rep power is how many points you can give to someone else by repping them. Even a new member with zero rep power can still give out rep, it just doesn't count. This is something else.

yeah the rep box is gone , but I can give out infractions still so watch the fuck out ! the only rep box I see is on my post the others have the # , infraction cards and the report post box but not a rep box .

I didnt think you used your power up but I have no clue at this point .
