schott is generally considered the best glass out there.
i don't know if schott's tolerances are much higher than kimble or simax, but you can prolly look for them online.
seed and airline specs are pretty much the most important, since the roundness and wall evenness is generally good with the better glass out there (simax/kimble/schott) yes, if you're super picky, then check the tolerances on that as well.

kimble is fine glass, and if you don't have any problems, theres no real point to pay more for probably better glass.
my .02. i like simax, the quality and workability has never given me a problem. kimble's unpolished ends really bothered me, as well as getting old old glass from them bothered me. (the rods were extra scratched since they were probably moved around more in the years it "sat")

anyway.. that said.. i'll prolly still try it out at some point, just to feel what difference there might be =)

I believe Kimble is the only glass made in the U.S.

it was said above that "unpolished ends really bothered me"...

not from any of the makers mentioned but, i got some 38mm tube that sat for several
weeks or, longer in the shipping box... the 9 tubes were wrapped in 3's and
the first two bundles were fine but, the third one had a small chip at one end
and from that chip, a crack ran the hole length of the tube and was hidden
by the fact the crack was against another tube...

my feeling is the ruff ends added to/caused this problem...
i have sense gotten over this but, it's not forgotten...

those ends take at about 5 seconds to fire-polish.

5 seconds X 36 tube case X both ends = 6 minutes per case

i will never get that six minutes back. that six minutes could have changed my life.
ust owes me six minutes. c'mon guys..... cough it up!

I would recomend the schott. If you sit down with both in front of you, you will understand. This is all dependent on what your doing with it. For blowing out cups and feet the slight difference found in some lesser quality glass makes a difference.
If you really want to know pick up some schott and try it out for your self. Ive been using schott recently and im sticking with it.
