hello, can anybody tell me how to or point me in the right direction to encase an object such as a human form without having air bubbles in it.

not sure im understanding? if your trying to encase with clear you would do it BEFORE you built the form as part of color prep. or you could seal it in an open bubble that didnt touch it, like a ship in a bottle idea.

not getting enough heat going as you lay down clear is one cause for bubbles, placement of clear can also effect if having bubbles, each row leaving undercuts will cause them, ususally can chase out, but not on a finished piece without distortion due to heat. for color prep i like tube encasing where you tack rod inside thin walled tube just big enough for color rod, leaving tacked end open, start at other end and work your way to tacked side melting clear tube over rod letting air escape through tacked end. this can be speeded up by using blow tube assembly and adding neg. pressure as you move along, helps get air out.

You could use a Stump sucker.

i like the "ship in a bottle" suggestion... i do a thing like that... i make pendents with real spendable, paper money in them... one of those "break in case of emergency" things...lol... :D

back in the day we used to do that with a cigarette and a match inside a sealed test tube.

Prep the figure and put it in the kiln. Then get a gather of clear large enough to be half the size of the finished product.Grab your figure out of the kiln and punty up to it in such a way that you don't have anything sticking out to far from the body of the figure(You want to avoid having any serious negative spaces in your figure).Heat the end of the gather until it's white hot (don't boil it though) and warm your figure(flash it in the flame a little ,not too much, you want the surface of the figure warm,so air doesn't "stick" to it) and push it into the white hot section approximately half way.Get another gather(again about half the finished size if you want the figure in the center)and heat the end white hot, flash the part of the figure thats exposed(and let the white hot gather drip onto the figure.Let the whole thing cool a little(not much just enough that the center with the figure doesn't lose it's shape) and then heat the whole thing (try to not let the heat penetrate to deep)and shape.

just put a hoop/bail on top and add a little hemp, then presto, you have a easy $15...

thanks for the idea, i think that it will be fun to do just that, now that it's popular to quit smoking... maybe i can try a fresh condom as well...lol...

my teacher put a bud on the side of a heady nug bowl...
that seemed to triple the value of the piece and,
much more than that, it made it go away quickly for said triple value...$$$...
not that i'm trying to steer anyone's work but,
if it works for anyone out there, please let me know what you find out
about your market base and the people where you work and play...

Use a lot of optical glass and work on it for five hours with three people. That will get you a seven inch tall , three inch wide weight of schott.

Or just work in miniature and go small. it does make things easier.

i saw some of those matchheads one time, and some little fuzzy balls, and instantly thought about putting a bud in the glass. How do you go about this. I guess blow a llittle bubble and anneal it, then once its cool put the object in there, and use a pinpoint flame to seal it up and put a loop on it, then i guess you just dont anneal it???? If anyone could help me out with this a litttle bit that would be great.

i seen a "flower" in a marble once, it just looke dlike a green blob with some orange . im interested if anyone has suggetions on how this is done.
i was always told that everything had to be annealed, right?

Spectrum, my guess is that you're thinking of an implosion marble maybe? I found a link on a thread a while back linking to this tutorial from the flow. http://www.theflowmagazine.com/tut1.htm
Also, nothing has to be annealed, I've been blowing glass without a kiln for a few months now :P. Alotta cracks in the winter though ><

And on encasing actual objects... I was wondering the same thing as kindglass, every time I tried encasing something, the glass would get too hot torching the contents. I guess the glass is too thick/not enough space?

I want whatever your smoking... dude you must be high to make a statment like that or you just have no clue

Yeah, so I just looked over that tutorial and realized that it doesn't get you very far. The general idea after you get your lines/dots/blobs down, melt them in, marver flat again, add other little dots/design if you want, heat/marver again, keep on heating and marvering and you'll notice the color slowly working towards the center more and being sucked back towards your punty.

Edit: Found stuff on this site that says it alot better than me. http://www.anakinsglasseye.com/tutorial-implosion.htm for implosin, and http://www.thegldg.com/forum/showthread.php?t=782&highlight=flower+tutorial for implosion flowers.

?? I know that I should have a kiln, and I definitely would like to, I was just saying that it didn't "have" to be annealed.

thats not what you said. you said nothing has to be annealed. I understand your point. if you dont have a kiln you can also try Flame Annealing

My bad jello, there's little expression in text and in my head the emphasis was on the word "has" :P

squirrel, now kindglass said sometin bout puttin a bud, i called it "flower", in glass. I like the ship in a bottle idea, but wouldnt i burn or atleast vaporize?. I have put tiny smoky quartz and others in tube and put a loop on it. alota times they would explode from the heat.
I have only done a few implosion flowers, maybe a dozen or so, its kinda tuff
oh ya, get a kiln :D

yea see i was thinking it would vape some of the "flower as well", but i see people put matchsticks and what not without them lighting up, so i dont know? if anyone could help that would be coollllllllll.
peace.
