wouldn't it be cool if you could save all your clear scraps and send them in for rods / tubes in return?
i assume glass manufacturers could remelt it and re-use it and make some profit, as well as not have the artist's waste their clear scraps.
just a thought:chilling:

clear scraps do add up to a shitload a of glass quickly.
yes, that would be very very cool.
doubt that'll ever happen tho....

i once heard of an experiment run by penn state... rumor really....... they saved up or gathered a bunch of scraps from scientific blowers and melted them down to test out a way to encapsulate uranium waste, for safer storage.
in a nuclear plant, they use boron rods to control the rate of the chain reaction. the boro sucks up the extra neutrons and that slows down the reaction. i wonder if borosilicate has any special properties like that or if the experiment worked at all... or if it actually ever happened!

Yes I have seen pictures of the glass logs that where made with the waist stuff in it.
Also borosilicate is a nutron asorber. and plays a very important role in keeping nuclear wait from reaching critical mass and starting a chain reaction. Useally any storeage tank and every inch of pipe and all the drains are filled with Raschig rings made out of Boro. to asorbe the nutrons if any thing where to acidently be put in the wrong tank or to much of any thing in a tank.
