Anybody around Baltimore? Thats where Im from and Im going to be living there this summer instead of here in VA.
Im trying to figure out where to sell pipes but apparently theres on guy who does a whole lot of middle-manning in the area. Anybody from the area have any tips on getting some glass sold there? I need to get a head start on some accounts or something... or talking to mr. middle

Ask yourself this: Is the middle man local to the area? Some of these distributors load up a van of prodo and go on some serious road trips....

Do you make pipes? if so then there is NO WAY you can step on anybodys toes. The thing about baltimore is there arent many blowers in that town, its not the nicest place to live, kinda dirty. So if you go to the different shops around there and just go inside and talk to the glass buyers and set up an appointment, they will do a good job of getting you in and out without a chance of you and the "middle man" seeing each other. Its beneficial for everyone for things to work this way. That way the "middle man" doesnt get mad at the shop owner(not like he would have any reason too, but people are weird), and the shop owner get the better price on glass.
There is a place called Doc's, used to be run by a lady named Jody, super nice.
there is also used to be a shop right across the street from Doc's, cant remember the name -- its been a few years, but supposedly they are a good account to have.
I tried once to do the Northern Virginia thing, lots of driving to sell stuff.
So when I was there, I called around to some shops to see if they were interested in buying glass, some of the shops tried the old "do you have a tax ID number?" thing, and I just said no and humg up and didnt even think about it. Well I guess the story is that its better to go IN to the shop and show them what you have and deal with the person face to face. You make more sales that way.
Of course when I was there it was shortly after the OPD thing so maybe everybody was a little sketchy.
Anyway, just trying to help.

When I was visiting home over spring break I went to the Other Side in Towson. The owner wasnt there of course. Thats the biggest pain in the ass. The owners are never there to talk to anywhere. Anyway, the girl there said that the owner buys from a middy that is hooked up with all the local blowers. But thats the only store I talked to.
I guess Ill just keep callin.
Anybody currently in Baltimore?
And Puddletown, Baltimore is a great place to live... if youre filthy rich...
There was a place around there called Top of the Stairs I think. Anybody know if its still open? On my list so far is the Other Side, Doc's, and Karmic connection if its still open.
i haven't been up there for a while, but from what i remember the was a TON of shops.
and i remember it being smelly and dirty and a lot of sketchballs around.
im sure you'll have a good time tho. you said you live in VA? where? i live in RIC now, but i've lived all over va.....
