i would use a cork instead of capping it w/ yo finger. more flex/plus no hot finger....

So what IS the difference with tubing ?

I have only ever used pyrex. How would simax or schott, or whatever else compare in terms of actual working qualities ?

Is it more easily manipulated when molten or something.

I've never had problem working with pyrex. I understand that some have knocked them since moving their manufacturing facility - but again, ive never used anything else so I suppose I'm rather ignorant to the difference in Boro brands.

I do see alot of praises for schott lately, just wondering what the diff is

its realy smooth and easy to work , i use a knight and dont feel like i have to bang on the glass as much to get what i want. it also seems to heat very evenly and i have less disasters. hope thats enough for ya.

They need to hurry up with the smaller diameter rods -- I'm running out of clear, and don't want to order more cases of Simax. :)

I just tried Schott for the first time hte other day and all I can say is WOW. I love it. Never getting Simax or UST ::shutters:: again. Especially no UST, that stuff is garbage.
