well who else can spot fads ever changing in glass. its like the yoyo- moving to pokeman cards and wig wags moving on to grall- really neat to see how people influence others and fads or styles are created.
just wanted to start a conversation

In beads and furnace work I often see different trends based on venue show/gallery/online - do pipes follow the same differences?
Sparkle for example always works better at shows for me than in gallery/shops or online. Ebay fads in beads - silver glass is a big one, raku has been one in he past. In person, those are nice- but it's not the "fad" it is online

remember Greenstar? I thought those were better than RooR, because the the female was grommeted and replaceable. break a female on a RooR, and then you gotta pony up the $300+ to replace the whole thing. Also the Greenstar's there 20% of the price, also they were manufactured by Roor.
But speaking of fads, Zongs where a stupid fad (to me). Acrylic wise, ZENDOG was awesome, and Graphics (the fisheads ones) were cool. The spoof valve was awesome. Also Chills were shitty as fuck, and Chris Hill was the biggest scam artist motherfucker I ever delt with. He would send a $1000+ of the Chills plastic dugouts, without you ordering them. Then I called the company name (at the time, he changes names every 2 months) and I asked the what the ordr was. I was told "you called and placed an order with Chris himself for them. Heh riiiiigggghhhht... I wonder it Chris The Crackstem Hill is in prison yet?
Also, there was this one company in Arizona, they made the coolest Resin base pipes, and hookahs, with Coop (John Cooper) Devils and Devil girls, Mtv's Celebrity Deathmatch, etc. I remember they got hit on OP pipedreams, but I forgot there name, they kicked ass though
and lastly, Hookah brothers, they made quality products too

well, not completely. RooR does hold a patent for glass on glass fittings, but i have seen other company's with the same fittings. It's a completely glass waterpipe. no rubber grommets, or metal inserts. But I guess it is the name you are paying for.
my friend has a roor and i don't see why they are considered high-end. i had to make him an insert for the top because the tube was way too big in diameter for a face. maybe for the jolly green giant could use it but still......

I agree, I think they are ridiculously overpriced for what you get. Thats why I liked Greenstar. Same company, same pipes, except the female was grommeted, instead on one piece. And a 2 foot RooR tube was like $25, and a 2 foot Greenstar, with a spoof bubble was $65. I would tell customers about the difference and the savings. They didn't care, they had to have the RooR. It's like the Jerk-offs that had to have a low end piece of shit chong.
