That spiral is really great...
so you paint oxides onto the glass? What oxides, iron? copper?
The mods received your message by accident, I'll post it for you!
It´s hollow.Just paint the tube with your oxides (after heating it a little bit) and then burn it in and do the wig-wag(always reheating and blowing a little bit out to starting size...) and then blow a ball.Next you put a point?(I´m not an native english speaker!) in 90* degree and then turn and turn and..then you can strech it or try to do some other stuff.
Needs a bit of exprience but finally...

Hi!
Copper oxyde is for green ,brown and red colour.
Cobalt oxyde is for blue.
Siver nitrate is for yellow clour and fuming(which turns to opal-blue).
Bone ash is for white colour.
You can also mix bone ash with a bit of cobalt oxyde for opaque light blue.
Needs quite "some" experience to get really the exact colours you want.

Well,I`ve seen my father and grandfather working on the torch since I could walk.(watch my portrait) Myselfe I´m lampworking since some 26 years now and I´m happy that I´ve found the US-based lampworker forums in the net because exchange between german glas artists is not that common.
