i have a friend who got taken by this scam last year on a mirage. don't fall for it, or better yet set it up then turn the payment addy over to ebay with your complaint. let us know after you report it and glacier verifies his end so we can spam the fuck out of this ass-hole.

the seller has my $1000 and i have proof of payment...!!!
if this turns out to be a scam on me, too bad for "NAME Edited" (the seller is not the ebay account holder),
i'll have his balls...
sorry if i'm a little on edge, i still haven't gotten my torch and i had to call the guy's mother already
to get the ball rolling and he says it's in the mail but, the number he gave me is for insured mail and offers no tracking... so, i'm working blind as to when it will arrive...

that's exactly what you should do and i'm blowing up the sellers phone as well as his mom's till i get something on where my torch is... mailed monday night via priority mail from honolulu hawaii means that i should have it tomorrow (friday) or, saturday at the latest and monday it will be over due in my mind...

just so everyone knows, i posted my redmax here, after the end of the auction and i sent out the payment... i received that payment and sent the torch from florida to oregon, all in less than a week... so, now i have no torch, other than my hand torch (3a) and my nails are chewed to the phucking quick...:bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead: :bangHead:

I edidted this as I wanted to write some things that would probably have gotten me an infraction
- first off let me say I do not know this seller or have any relation to any of this

Glaciar - It is very inmature and unprofesional to be posting this guys name, on this forum, w/o any real proof
that you have been ripped off yet. ( if and when you do get ripped off (and I sure hope this is not the case)- Then please, by all means, drag him through the mud on here)

However FYI- Priority mail is NOT GUARENTEED!!!, Tracking #'s with the USPS DO NOT USEALLY SHOW UP FOR APROX 2 WEEKS AFTER THE PARCEL HAS BEEN MAILED ( SOMETIMES A MONTH) (Typically not till after the package shows up. )
Maybe Im a little pissy as its 5 am and Im still awake, ( and if I reread this later and I come off like too much of an ass I will edit it)

As to add someting worth while to the original post. If anyone ever receaves a 2nd chance offer and you are considering it ( as not all are scams) Spoof@Ebay.com will advise you IF the 2nd chance offer is really a scam or not. Other option is to contact the seller directly- through their ebay user id ( on the actual auction page)

Not all second chance offers originate from the seller.

In my many years of trading on ebay, Ive seen MANY second chance offers that do NOT originate from the items original seller. One of the biggest, and oldest scams, is the old email offer for a sexond chance at an item you bid on. It's important to check all email addresses carefully. With ebay, you usually DONT get a sellers email address from the auction page.

It is always a good idea, for any item you bid on, to use the 'ask seller a question' from the auction page. If you ask, and get a response, you will now have that users email address that you can reply directly to.

At least that can be checked against the email address in the 'second chance offer'.

On a personal note, always be careful when dealing with fluff email accounts. Everyone in the world gets an email address from their ISP, and Im surprised ebay would allow gmail, yahoo, msn, aol, etc email accounts to be listed. I wont bid on high dollar items if the seller is not using an actual ISP email address. May sound a bit too much, but why gamble ? Everyone works hard for their money.

the guy lied to me and his mom about the payment being there...

that is after i found out that the seller was not the registered ebayer...

when i explained to her how delivery conformation works,

the payment was found... all in a matter of a half hour of phone calls

to her because he would not answer his cell... he provided it and

has never answered any call from me...

the guy is shady as hell and if i had of known that the

payment was to a PO Box and not to his house, i would have

never sent it in the first place... i would have just taken the

infraction from ebay and ordered my torch from GTT direct...

i'm already without paypal because someone hacked an account

and it's in the "being worked out" stage of things... again, just incase

you don't know, that $1035 was about my only money i had and i sold my

redmax to cover what i didn't have for fixing the roof on my house...

blowing glass and renting rooms in my house are my income...

i don't have money ($27 in my bank account) or a check coming in...

i do have a room for rent... less than 8 miles to the beach...

pm me if interested... sorry if i seem a lot like the post master general...

it's just that i've been lied to and i can prove it but, that would hurt

the sellers mom and not the seller because, ebay would give here the boot...

what can they do to a non registered user....???

i've got more time, blowing glass than i do at this computer stuff,

let alone ebay and i'm still quite fresh at the glass thing...

seems that the only thing worse than ebay (for scum bags) is craigs list...!!!

05-18-2007, 11:48 AM
Wow, harsh!!! Good luck, man!

And the lady should DEFINITELY get the boot! This was all caused through her account AND it's her son - she is responsible for recompensing you!!!

I just got scammed on ebay for $100, and ya know.... they all lie. If this lady really even has a son, and she's not the scammer herself, then at the very least she's responsible for the activities on her account.

I watched this one guys feedback score go from like 160 to 98 in a week. Now he's bant.

Deff file a complaint through ebay. In this day and age nothing takes more than a couple weeks to ship. I get electronics parts from China in 4 days from fed ex and dhl (5-6 weeks for ups... heh) so cross-country shouldn't be a multi-week ordeal.

ebay scammers suck, kill 'em all!

well, i agree with you all... and i mean all of you... at this point, it's only been sense monday afternoon that it's supposed to be in the mail and i paid to have it sent priority mail and insured... i did talk to the postmaster at my local post office and he is the one that said to give it till monday because, then it will have had time to arrive... i can't make a claim with them at that time but, at least i will know it's a BS story that it was sent when and how they said it was... because of the way things happened from the start, ebay will take care of their end... and because of video, whoever cashed the postal money orders will face two federal felony charges bacause, of the $1000 limiton postal money orders, i made one for $510 and one for $525 and $499 makes it a felony i believe anyway... anyway, who knows at this point...
many of you are right about how the second chance scam works... i don't see how in the hell the crooks get people's email address from their bidder ID... seems like an inside job to me... of course they have to take it outside of ebay to try and collect any ill gotten funds but, the info must come from somewhere inside ebay's data bank as to how to email the people that are bidding...
hind sight is 20/20 and i wish my foresight had the same on the day i made my offer to this Great Buy on ebay... oh well, if i got burnt, i'll just have to man up and show everyone what a national 3a can do...lol... because thats all i will have for quite some time... i've had worse things happen... and at least i will not be involved in any wrong and my karma will stay clean... no blood on my hands this time because i don't have that long a reach...lol...
buy the way, i did a search on both names and found them to be real and where they said they were... he needs to update his myspace...lol... he hasn't loged in for a long time but, seemed that i found him when and where he said he was... damn it man...lol...:evilLaugh

Glacier,

Forgive me if Im missing the point, but does this lady claim to be ensuring that your torch will be shipped ?

Dont hesitate in the name of patience and good intentions. Report this immediately to EBAY. In the U.S. this type of transaction is considered a FEDERAL CRIME. For 1,000 the D.A. in the sellers area is obligated by law to press charges, and make an arrest.

Seems like alot of trouble to go through, but i highly doubt that some innocent little old lady is completely clueless about the situation. If its not that important to you, then just mail me your next 6 months rental income.

Dont let someone spank you, no matter what your tolerance level is. If you're not motivated to do it for yourself, then do it for the next not so well of person this POS tries to scam.

I'm sure "mom", since it was her account, does not want to do jail time, or community service, let alone repay you - which will be enforced by a FEDERAL court order. Any scams online are of federal offense, and i've seen quite a few amateur ebay scammers eat their slice of kharma pie.

It's your money - if you're giving it away freely, Ill take some.
If it's as valuable to you and your family as i think it may be, then stand up for yourself, and contact ebay immediately. They WILL check it out, and as long as you have proof of payment, they will file a complaint with the proper FBI office/District Attorney, who will then issue a felony arrest warrant for wire fraud.

You will either get your torch, or your payment.

oh man, i am not trying to fall into the anger i felt when this post was pointed out to me but, believe me when i say, i not forgiving or forgetting when it comes to my money... i'm just hoping my torch comes soon and that way, the drama will be a little less but, the Poop is going to hit the fan, no matter what... she will never let her son or even jesus use her ebay account again when it's said and done...
my oxygen tanks got droped off and i need to get out there and drag them around to the shop... after that, my energy level will be much less which means my anger will level out as well... like i said before, if it turns out that im screwed for the torch, i'll just have to show ya'll what i can do on a national 3a...:evilLaugh

...the waiting absolutely blows. i did that on a torch from across the pond. forget about priority mail, my friend in mt shasta sent a cdrom priority to seattle and it took a full 5 days, so the post office is no help at all including their friggin tracking numbers.

if you get into the 6th day and still dont have it maybe thats the time to be worried. its just really hard to wait. but the post office does tell you priority can take up to 5 days. i dont think next day is even next day anymore when youre dealing with the post office. fedex can do next day but its mo money.

Wow! I been out on the road all day. This thing really took off! I knew this was a scam. I had the seller's email addy and the one in the 2nd chance offer doesn't match. And there is no message for me in my ebay, so it is a fake. I have not done anything with this. Usually, I just delete them. Some I turn over to spoof@ebay.com. I only posted this one here cuz I 'know' the winner and I was a bidder as well, and we have all been talking about it, and know how much this means to Glacier and just wanted you all to know how close to home these scammers can hit. I didn't think to set it up and submit the paypal addy.....that might actually stop this one scammer.....for a few days.
And it sounds like Glacier got his phantom, so WOOHOO to you!! Now if I can just find one for me......

We seem to take much of life for granted. It's only when we truly have to sweat or bleed for our possessions that we foster a greater sense of value for them.

Good Luck, I hope your torch is totally bitchin.

^^^yeah, what he said^^^

if your grand was at the seller's location and they told you that they didn't get it till you called their mommy on them, wouldn't your nutz be in a wad...??? even if there was nothing like this scam of a second chance, i was in a state of agro postal readyness....!!! and it seems that the torch needs to be sent in to be 100% on the lynx fire and the hoses need to be replaced because the guy abused them...
the only thing i can say is that the pix on ebay made it look as if there was over heating of the torch and in real life, this is not the case... the tip seems to be normal... all in all, i'm just glad to have the torch and it will have a home here, always... next time, i will go straight to the source for my gtt and i see that soon i will be going down that road for a mirage...

I just don't think you should jump to irrational decisions until you know for sure your getting fucked. You just seem like a complainer man. Fuck you got the torch and know your still bitching about it. Are you ever fucking happy and if so when is that. I feel bad for the poor guys mom. well, im glad he got his torch, and really - not too long from now, im sure he'll be laughing about the big fiasco, and may forge a stronger bond with him and that particular torch, simply because of the ordeal.

Whenever i buy something used, if it's only a matter of a few bucks, i'd personally rather buy it new. more than half my equipment was purchased second hand, and alot of it on ebay. I paid next to nothing for my torches, kilns, and even my concentrator - but I did take the time, shopped for deals, and even waited for a carlisle auction that didnt meet it's reserve. I mailed the seller after the auction asking for his reserve price, rather than relisting, and for 200 bucks I got a perfect carlisle cc. Got a 600 dollar kiln with slight shipping damage for 90 bucks, and a devilbiss 02 concentrator for 50, all in the same manner.

shop smarter, not harder :P
