hey all, i am starting up a little studio in my garage and need my bench to be able to roll out into the middle. I was wondering what type of table i should get, whether it should be some type of metal or wood.
Thanks

Did you try searching for "bench" or "wood bench" using the search function?

here's one i just searched for:

what's you price range? If you do a search you will see this topic has been discussed a few times, along with some pictures. Some metals are OK, and wood is used a lot. It's personal preference though.

thanks for the quick reply, i had actually looked in the search for a while but was having trouble finding something. i am looking for something that i can push to the side of the garage at the end of the day so was thinking of getting a steel work bench for about 100 dollars. Does this seem like it would be a good idea?

what type of steel, how thick? Some metals can give off fumes and get really hot. But ya, if it works for you, why not.

heres my question where is the exhaust going to be if you sre rolling the bench to the middle of the garage to work?

wouldnt it be easier just to have the bench at the wall and vent through the wall rather than having to run duct across/above the ceiling?

what if the wind is such that it blows back at you...???

IMO, this would be very unhealthy/dangerous...

for my self, a constant air flow, away from me is a must...

i would suggest the same for everyone...

it's my .02 that you should think of this...

You will be fine.. make sure the one behind you is above and down.. hang from the ceiling and slightly angle down.. not to the table but the general direction.. 30 degree or something.. and another somewhere and you will be fine..

as for the wind.. if you planned on having the door open all the way.. a quick solution is plexil.. 3 X3 piece at home depot .. bout 21 bucks.. will prevent any wind.. must be minimum 3 feet away from a carlise.. and 4 feet from a cc+ FYI..

use 2 pieces of 1X1 about 4 feet long going vertical up the side of the station and sandwich the plexi between it on both sides..

just my .02 as well.. but you need a lil more behind you pushing away then anything in that situation... surely exhaust is important but your focusing on the air coming from behind in this situation.. therefore the angle and height of the fan become the paramount concern.. play with the angles.. and it aint plutonium.. I will die from cigarettes before this shit for sure

If your fuming you will not want to use the open the garage door technique.
I have seen people make clever set ups using an open garage door although they put a lot more into it than just opening the door and putting a fan in front of you.

Ventilation is super important. What about a fan in the wall or a window?

thanks for all the info i am only going to be here for the summer so i do not want to spend to much money so i figure if the wind is going to hard i wont be able to work. also i am going to have some fans going behind me so i thought that would help. i will also try and get a exhaust fan that i can put in front of me

Yeah try the exhaust fan. Silver isnt the only agent you need to worry about buddy.
