Val Cox’s Frit Explorations in Beadmaking
June 9 & 10; Saturday & Sunday
10am - 5pm
$300
This two-day flameworking class will cover all areas of working with 96-COE furnace frits in soft glass, with an emphasis on excellence in design and technical perfection for abstract and organic patterns. Students will explore reactive, reduction and transparent furnace frits, powders, frit blends and nuggets. Students will learn application techniques, and many color recipes for great effects, both within beads and as surface decoration and texture. Also covered: getting the best effects from Raku, creating faux-boro in soft glass, as well as incorporating silver and gold foils with frits and working with metallic luster/reduction glass frit. Emphasis will be on adapting these various techniques and approaches to enhance each student’s beadmaking style.
