AFTER THE COMPETITION JOIN
FLAMEOFF JUDGE, ROBERT MICKELSEN
FOR A 5 DAY WORKSHOP.................
DEVELOPING CONTENT AND NARRATIVE IN FLAMEWORKED GLASS
August 14-18 (Tues-Sat), 10am - 5pm
Robert Mickelsen $750
This class will concentrate on a subject that is often difficult and elusive for many students who work in flameworked glass: CONTENT. Glass objects can be made to be beautiful and technically impressive, but only through the development of content can they be made into art. Only through personal narrative can work be made that is absolutely unique, personal and uncopyable. Students will focus on the development of personal ideas and aesthetics through sketching and experimenting, designing and constructing, and finally through critiquing and discussions, and technical demos as needed to accomplish our goals. The class will conclude with an EGS Gallery exhibition of the works made during the class. Carmen Lozar will be Robert's TA for this class.
Open to all flameworkers with one year experience or more.
