Rocio and I are going to do a test on the current set of Glass Art Collector Cards. We will except the next 30 artists who can get pictures and bios to us
for FREE. These artists won't get any of their cards, but they will be included in the next set available to the public..... sold in stores, etc. They will have the option of buying some of their own card when they want for;
$50 for a 100, $100 for 200 or $150 for 400. It costs a lot to print these cards, so we are going to "test" how the sales are vrs. printing, etc. for this set only. So, if you've been holding off..... Now is the time. Act quick!
Glass Craftsman Magazine is writing a whole article about the cards for their
DEC/Jan issue. Plus, the cards will be in the permanent collection at the Corning Museum!!

Thanks!

i dont totally get it, can any glass artist just send a pic and bio and your in?
how long of a bio? (how many words)
and my big question is, if glass pipe art is your main form of expression, does that somehow disqualify you? i would hope not, but in today's world, nothing surprises me.....
thanx.

Slinger click on his link and check out the other cards, and there's more info there on what you have to do. The bio part is pretty short, remember they are baseball card sized. I'm pretty sure I've seen cards with pipes in them before but not positive.
This was posted on like 4 other forums so I'd jump on it NOW if you want in, I doubt there are many spots left as these cards have been a big hit!

Who takes your pictures for you? (addressed to everyone)
Are you taking these yourself or having them done?
Are digi cam pictures sufficient for things like this?

Micah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course you can create a NEW card!!
Now about functional art on the cards..... I know there are a lot of people that would want them in the set. However, These packs are sold in stores around the country, most of which are family owned and would not bring in the cards if they contained questionable art. This would damage the amount of publicity everyone would get if the distribution became limited. I can crop the art piece to show it's colors, yet not show enough information to display it's function. Remember, these cards are designed to promote glass art..... into Fine Art Galleries. We hope to build recognition and validation of what we do as glass artists into the traditional Fine Art World. Right now if someone says they are an artist...... the first thing that pops in mind is they are a painter. really it should spark the question "what kind of art?.... Painting, sculpture, GLASS?, etc.."

Maestro -
Digi are fine. Set the camera the the highest res setting. Then set it to META. Do not use any zoom, and no flash. Take the picture in the sunlight...... this lets you get close to the object. Should work great for you.

I had over 130 e-mails in two days, so I have not had time to read them all. It may take me a day or two to get proofs out to everyone. Don't worry, if the 3rd set gets full, I'll continue putting artists into the 4th set. So don't worry..... if you sent info, you'll be in one of the sets! For those who heard about it late....... you still have time to get stuff to me for the 4th set!
