Patty Gray’s Intermediate to Advanced Special Projects Invitational & Design Elements class @ O-AT-KA School of Glass in Batavia, NY (between Buffalo & Rochester, NY)
November 28 - December 2, 2007
June 14 - 18; Wednesday - Sunday
9am – 5pm
$1175 US ($650 US Deposit upon registering) - Gourmet lunches included
Intermediate to Advanced Level

This course will focus on developing strong design processes with the emphasis on thick larger scale Triptych Formats (3 piece panels).

Of course, you will need to hang your finished Triptych. There are many options now available to the Glass Artist….we will discuss and demonstrate a number of these Glass-hanging Methods and Custom Systems.

By exploring fundamental principles of design and new techniques, each student will transform their vision into a rich composition. Patty and her assistants will excite your imagination with ideas, demonstrations and information on various Fusing and Kiln -forming Techniques that can then be applied to your individual projects.

There will be lots of "Hands-On" Projects focusing on developing new ideas and designs with techniques and methods learned in the class. We will explore techniques to create Depth and Surface Design Elements using Frits, Powders, Stringers, Powder Wafers, Metals and Mica Powders, Irids and Dichroic Glass.

Students will also have the opportunity to Explore, Design and Create in a number of areas including: Pattern Bars; High Fire projects; Combing and Manipulating glass in the kiln; working with Mosaics; Pot Melts/Pours; Vitrographs; Glory Hole; Bas Relief; and Lampworking Skills.

As with any Glass Project, you will need to Cold Work your glass pieces and this Course will provide you with hands-on instruction. You will have ample opportunity to become very comfortable with all aspects of Cold Working!! The O-AT-KA School of Glass has a variety of Cold working Equipment for you to try.
