Ask your boss, seriously. Or spend lots of cash and get good equipment. I lose a year off my life every time I blast... we bought a $120 deal off Ebay. Even after silicon around all the joints and tape around the door it puts out an Oakie style dust storm. I only use it outside, with a respirator and goggles, and I can taste the silicon carbide the next day.

How big do you want to go?I just got done putting together an ebay sand blast cabinet (http://www.arizonatools.com/tools/sand-and-bead-blasting/detail/CLKSB9007/) for 170 delivered. Its not that bad if you have a shop vac.
So here's what i spent.
sand blast cabinet (http://www.arizonatools.com/tools/sand-and-bead-blasting/detail/CLKSB9007/) $170
silicon carbide 220 grit (http://www.mytoolstore.com/cyclone/access.html) $108 delivered
2HP 33 gal compressor (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00916732000P?vName=Tools&adCell=A3) like new $180
So around $480 after a hose and fittings. you could cut that price in half if you went with a small used compressor, small hood, and aluminum oxide.

I don't think there's a real short way around this. A good kit will cost at least a grand to get you going. But i guess it all depends on what you call good.

Right.. that's exactly what we have. Wealth before health, I'm all about it. I empty the vac, solely based on who is more important to our child's upbringing.

ya i have my wife do it, i say it's pixie dust and she puts it on her cheeks :D
I also have mine outside until the rains come in a few months. I'm kind of scared to bring that badboy inside.

They sell hepa filter bags mostly advertised as sheet rock dust bags. Look at the micron ratings. The nice thing about the bags is they fill the inside of the shop vac then you just pull the bag and pitch it. I was worried the dust collector was going to collect all my grit but what it does suck up is to fine to be of any use anyway.
