I'm new here and don't know what that is. What is it and what is its value to someone?

Its from outer space...well a reaction of something that entered the atmosphere. you can fuse it to boro, and with heavy welding gogles over your regular protection (186+) and a new torch technology torch you can shape it...its slow, but you can!

isn't that price super steep? or is it a "special" variety of mouldavite. the last time i bought mouldavite it wasn't 200$ a gram.

probably has to do with the quality of the piece and the clarity.ive seen modevite for as low as 2.50 3 bux a gram but it wasnt very nice stuff real dark with alot of random debris in it. either way thats a huge piece and may be a bit over priced but rock collectors dont care if its a piece they need in their collection.peace brett

try $20 a gram on that piece.

in most gems and such, larger pieces are worth exponentially more than smaller pieces because of rarity. (same goes for opals...)

small chunks of moldivite you can get for $3 a gram.

I've got some $3 a gram tektites if anyone wants... Darker form of moldavite, but shows the green when held up to a bright light and is compatible with boros.

PM if interested.

Any tektites will NOT work in glass. Not all Tectites are glass based, many are metal based.

So I heard somthing that I am not sure if it is true .I heard that when moldavite is reheated in the flame that it become's radioactive .This is the story I was told that someone was wearing a piece of moldavite fused to a glass pendant around there neck and it turned there neck black in the spot that the moldavite was touching .When they went to the doctor to find out what was going on the doctor told them it was a radiation burn .I have been useing moldavite and tektite for years on pipe's and pendants and have never had any problems with heating or wearing it .If moldavite has radioactive properties it has to be present already doe's reheating it bring out the radioactivity and make it more radioactive or is this just another BS story .I am sure that if it is radioactive that is such a Small amount that it is probably no more radiation than useing a microwave . Doe's moldavite register on a geigermeter(spelling?) that would be a good way to find out if it is radio active . Either way I recommend having superb ventalation when working with moldavite Who knows what metals and such are present in it .
