Ok - before you go off blaming the boroscopes - when was the last time you had an eye exam? If it has been several years, what you might be experiencing is NORMAL eye changes due to aging. Maybe it's time for a prescription -- loss of distance vision is fairly normal as you get older, and so is wearing glasses.
Don't necessarily blame the boroscopes for this until you've had an eye exam.
The product was tested by an independant testing laboratory, and my company paid for one round of testing. Another member here did additional testing of the product where he works and essentially verified that my original test data is correct.
Where the product failed covers several two issues:
1. Boroscopes pass more than 40% of all IR energy they are exposed to.
2. Boroscopes do not meet the ANSI standards for welding shade numbering for IR energy transmission.
AGW-286's are available in several shades, from 4 to 8 in single steps. We can also do split shades, for example 4/6 or 5/8, what ever you'd like. They run around $370 plus shipping.
But again, please have an eye examination FIRST. It may be that you need corrective eyewear, and that may be due to NORMAL AGING, not defective product.

first off thank u for your response u are a real person to look at the whole picture not just me venting about my problem .....BUT its been a year since i could see perfectly and im not old im 23 soo there goes that and when i make big thing i expect my 300 dollar glass's not to suck ass. so do i blame boroscopes? hell yeah after today my eyes feel like a hammer hit them. so if arua lens are so much better why do boroscopes act like there the best. and if arua lens is not better then i guess i might as well wear didiums from the 80's. so aruas are the best? how much better?and thank u again from the bottom of my eyes you rock

I would STILL get an eye exam FIRST.
There has been plenty of discussion about the lack of basis in fact for Phillips' advertising campaign. It's been proven several times that it is false and deceptive.
The only point I'm trying to make is that it would really be best to get an eye exam and have a medical professional tell you straight out that the eyewear you have been using has caused your particular symptoms before you go to Phillips and blame them for ruining your eyes.
This is nothing more than I would ask someone to do if they had a complaint about my eyewear.
Especially if it ever went to court - you would need a medical diagnosis of injury -- and the first place to start is with an eye exam.
Your vision has changed - it could be from the glasses, it could also be normal aging of the eye - people's eyes DO change, regardless of whether you are 23 or 40.
To answer your other questions, the AGW series filter remove 98% of the IR, and meets the ANSI standards for IR transmission. At the current time there are no other lenses available that can do this unless you want to go the "ghetto" route (as it has been called) and hang a pair of glass welding filters in front of your didymiums.

My eyes didn't start changing until my early twenties... then they changed quick! I wasn't working glass at the time. Go get checked like Mike said. It's a great idea to have your eyes checked every year if you work glass. If you catch eye problems early, it can make a world of difference!

I've been wearing glasses since I was 19.... eyes START going south pretty early on, but it can take years before you really start to notice it.
My guess, and I am not a doctor, is that your eyes are just ageing normally, but there's the distinct possiblity that the "protection" you use on the torch isnt cutting it.
I don't use phillips glasses, always use Auras, but I wonder if there's a chance of a class action suit for you guys that do....
proof proof and more proof.
