right now im in the process of applying to colleges
im looking for a college where i can intensively focus on glass. i have a friend whos at NYU in an intensive music program where every class he takes is for music production/recording, the only non music class he takes is a one period blow off class on tuesdays and thrusdays to take his mind off of music.
are there any similar programs for glass?
what are some good schools for glass?
any out of the country in canada or italy?
so far ive found:
Savanah art Institute
Rockchester Institute
Penland
Tyler school of art
University of Texas in Arlington(from the article in the flow)
and possibly Seattle University

I think it depends on what branch of glass work you want... i know there are a few tech schools who have wonderful scintific glassword, and repair work programs..

im open to hear any and all suggestions. ive thought about studdying scientific, but i really want to focus on art. Right now i just lampwork, but i want to open up to furnace work, but i want to be in an environment where i can study both lampworking and furnace work.

I wish Eugene Glass School was more of a "School". EGS is a great place and I enjoy all the classes I have take there but it is more of a collection of workshops than an actual school.
I was super bumbed when I found out Salem Community College was in NJ and not in Salem Oregon, which is just an hour away!!!! Arrrggggg.....
Chemeketa Community College, which IS in Salem Oregon, does have an art program that includes Hot Shop glass working. That might be something I could do....
Well, best of luck to ya!

Hey Kristi, it's great to hear from you :bounce
The bus is still here- we just moved it down in the woods. You guys are welcome to stay with us anytime you want. The next time you're on tour, drop me a line and we'll get together. Please tell the hubster and the kids that Elaine and I said hello :)

not to nit-pick, but wonka, the abbreviation for kansas is KS, not KA.
also, i've yet to check it out, but there is a school here (in KS) that is supposed to have a good glass program, furnace work, mostly, i think.
it's emporia state university.
they have a weekend glass expo at the college once a year....
