View Full Version : Melting pot fake bomber!
:o:
I just saw on CNN someone walked into Boston airport with a FAKE BOMB strapped to thier GLDG shirt! claiming it was art! begginning to believe art has a limit now!
hope this doesn't bring too much national federal attention to this place.......check ourselves.:bangHead::bangHead::bangHead::bangHead: :bangHead::bangHead::bangHead::bangHead::bangHead: :bangHead::o:
I was hoping this was just a bad joke, but I guess not . At least the online version doesn't mention the shirt.

Yea I hate how they call it a fake bomb. Just because something lights up doesn't mean it's a bomb. What about a brooch that lights up and looks like a circuit board? I mean after they had her in custody and realized that it obviously wasn't a bomb they should let her go.

I've seen it around, too. I don't think it looks the same though. Our hot carl originated from a stick figure on fire and evolved into what you see on the header, which was drawn by prima. i've seen different versions of burning men out there, but i don't think they "borrowed" more like it's a common idea.

I do agree with Julz comment about the shoes. I mean if I go up to a state trooper and say that I saw someone with blinking shoes, he's gonna freak a little right? And then when I point to the 2 year old with the light up spiderman shoes *I'm* suddenly the bad guy?
I also agree that this chick really wasn't thinking her actions through completely.
I wonder what they'd do if I wore a t-shirt to the airport that said "Suspected Terrorist". It's true, but is it sufficient to get me banned from a plane? The way DHS and it's TSA minions work, we're ALL suspected terrorists, so is stating the obvious truth a crime? Hmmmmm.....

Smutboy hit it right on the head. Anyone who thinks an act like that is making a point or a work of art is either completely misguided and possibly mentally retarded, or just plain suicidal. Shit like that isn't funny, meaningful, artistic or anything of the kind.
There were probably families with kids all around her - what were they supposed to think? That it was their last moment on earth - or just some spoiled little MIT brat thinking she was being cute? Whos to say?

this reminds me of a funny story, ill try to make a short version of it.
so a friend of mine woke up to somebody knocking really loudly on his door one morning and just ignored it and stayed in bed, they knocked again in about 30 minutes and he continued to ignore it. so about another 30 mins later he looks out his front door and there is nothing but cops and cop cars all up and down his street. with the majority of the cops all standing in front of his house in the road, so he walks outside to see what the hell is going on and all the cops freak out asking him where he came from and that they cleared the whole block of residents earlier and had found a bomb in a toolshed next door. he started laughing and explained to the cops that he had a halloween party last year and his neighbor dressed up as a suicidebomer. and mustve left the costume behind when he moved out. the cops asked him all of his ex neighbors info like name and current address and whatnot, but they never actually contacted the guy last i heard.
Turning Point Glass
09-21-2007, 01:58 PM
and if he answered the door the first time they knocked, nothing would have gotten out of control.
On a sort of similar note, someone - never identified - replaced the baby jesus in my town's christmas manger scene with a 144mm howitzer shell. The cops cleared out about a five block radius until the Army arrived from Fort McCoy, about six hours away. The shell turned out not to be live.

I don't think the GLDG store offers a black sweatshirt like that. And the white sweatshirt with Flaming Carl on the back has a dialogue box that reads "Help!" or something to that effect also, the website URL is right underneath him. In the picture there is no dialogue and there is no URL. So unless Misha is offering a black GLDG sweatshirt now, I'd say it's not from the GLDG. And if it is, I want one.
Mr. Wonka

If you purchase a GLDG shirt today, you will receive a special gift package with each order that includes:
- 1 pound of simulated plastic explosives
- A fake passport from Afghanistan
- A “Praise Allah” bumper sticker
- A map of New York City with the Empire State Building circled in red magic marker.
BTW- this offer is just as real as the “bomb” that the stupid girl wore to the airport.

After careful consideration, that looks like the gldg logo, flame positions and all, maybe she copied the logo, and had it put on a black hoodie.
The bad part of that is having a fake bomb with flames emiting from a person. It insinuates the nature of the devise, false as it may be, but not smart for a Student of the Institute of technology, tasering her once or twice would of sufficed for how the fuck stupid are you bitch.

That hoodie looks kinda old, she probably jacked it from a homeless dude & decided "This would be so chic with a fake bomb on it" It's crazy that they let her out on $750. out of curiosity, does anyone know what OJ's bail was for armed robbery? Wasn't it like $12k?
I hope she gets a minimum of 5 yrs, she shouldn't even be out on bail now. The court system there basically said, oh it's ok, she's just an innocent, stupid girl...
And who wouldn't get scared if you're in an airport & some crazy looking bitch with spare computer parts & batteries stuck to a hoodie comes up with play-do in her hands asking about plane info!
If it was Miami airport, they'd just shoot her. You can't be stupid enough to think it's ok to go into an airport with that shit on you, you can't even take a pepsi with you!
The world is now a cluster-fuck of hateful, ignorant people who don't care about art or exposing people to new ideas. That's what keeps me up at night, I could be at the wrong place at the right time & some psycho comes outta nowhere & blows my ass up. I don't really want my life to end like that, and it would be catastrophic for me to survive a friend or family member who just gets too close to the wrong psycho.
When I was in NYC last month I felt safe, I saw ground zero and I still felt safe, depressed but safe. At the airport I am in panic-mode, got my running shoes on & I'm ready to fight to protect my life. I love to travel, but I'm expecting the worst to happen at all times. what was this bitch thinking?

There's a good chance that shirt is not a GLDG shirt.
For instance, there is a glass studio that has this image as it's logo - been using it for many years. They sell T-shirts too but I don't know about hoodies. Frankly when I joined this forum I though someone here had ripped off the studio's logo. But who knows? Could just be synchronicity.

Seeing how the 9/11 terrorist's used Logan as their starting point, it was more of a sensitive nature to not take shit so to speak from a self-proclaimed artists making a public statement at a sensitive public airport still feeling the fallout from a flawed security system that enabled the first of two us planes to take the lives of almost 3000 people. No worries, I can accept the fact that I'm a pussy. You're 100% right tho, monkey see monkey do. I hear what you're saying, fear can be like a disease, I know people (like my grandmom) who won't go into the city b/c of terrorists. And she see's nothing wrong with that...I don't feel like I'm submitting to that fear (the type generated by media), I am simply saying I'm aware of it and I'd like to prepared.
I had this anatomy & physiology prof a few years ago who told us that your fear is a gift. Fear is the most primitive emotion humans possess (desire/lust 2nd) and you have to ask why. Is it inherited or an evolved response to environment. If you never felt fear how would you know what safe feels like?
The probability that I will be shot in a drive-by on my way home is more likely to be greater than me getting blown to smitherines at the airport. The entire idea of me having a kid is the scariest fucking thing I've heard all year.

I was talking to Andrew and told him it could be an old pre-Cafepress design, but on further consideration I don't think this is a GLDG shirt at all. I've seen a couple of t-shirts that weren't on CafePress, in the wee early day of the forums, but I don't think they even had Hot Carl on them.
Then I get to looking at our logo vs the other logos... and surprise... they're all the same clip-art logo of a guy on fire. There's nothing particularly unique about the one we use, other than color and photoshop filters. It's the same base image as used by everyone from burningman to OSHA.
Then I get to thinking that if this chick is a first year EE candidate at MIT she's probably not spending a whole lot of time doing anything but school work, certainly not glass...
and there are a lot of shirts out there with that design on them. hoodies too.

What if walked in to a daycare naked and said it was art. or took a shit inside a grocery store on the cleaning products aisle. It just doesn't make sense why somebody would think they are above societies' paranoia and hypersensitivity, as ridiculous as it is.
