Meet our son, Brishen who recently turned 7 years old. Brishen has quite the little glass fever in him, he just can’t get enough! So of course we encourage him to explore this medium as much as possible.

He has taken notice of my online rituals and figured out that when someone buys something from me I ship it to them and they give me money, pretty smart since I never told him haha! So he’s decided he wants to try to sell glass in “mommy’s glass store” too, and now I’m getting called “the assistant” bahahah! Boy the things kids come up with…

So here are a few of Brishen’s glass items, posted by his assistant, mommy. :D You can find his folder here, (http://imageevent.com/pyrochixrock/glass/brishensglass) and also prices for his glass too. Sometimes I’ll put them in the eBay store as well. Thanks for checking out his stuff!

He also has a pendant up too, hook done by his assistant. ;)

Misha,

Your son's work is damn good, but then he has a great teacher.

Too Cool...look at him! He's totally diggin' it! Nice pieces, too. My little guy Evan (2 years old) walks around chanting "Glassblowing....Glassblowing....Pendant....Pendant" but hasn't had any torch time yet, of course. He gets all excited when he see's daddy in the garage, though. I think he'd really dig lampworking someday. A few more years and I'll probably have him melting stuff if he wants. Maybe he can learn some cool tricks from Brishen someday ;)

That shot was taken on a day it was 100 degree's out. He wasn't too thrilled as you can probably tell :lol

Garth we started brishen around 2 actually, but we held his hands until he was about 3 or 4. once he had his own glasses and his own torch he really took off with it. If I let him blow glass more often I'm sure he'd be farther along but I don't always have time to stand there with him and I can't let him do it alone yet, (alone meaning me not RIGHT there but maybe 2 feet away, heh) I don't think he's ready.

By the way, your son is damn cute! You better watch out, he's gonna be trouble! :lol

Does he have glasses?

2 years old, eh? Hmmm...that's encouraging. What glasses were you having him use back then? I've just got my Aura goggles which are too big for him I reckon. I'd love to get him up there and melt stuff since I see the interest all over his face.

Thanks for the compliment...he's already got a little girl his age following him around. It's too funny! He's already trouble...he takes after me in so many ways :lol

Aura has a kids program, you can borrow glasses from them and return them when you are done with them. When he was 2 we didn't know about that so I stood behind him and held dydids up to his face...really sucked! Then we got shades for both kids.

Calista was a baby at the time, 10 months, so she has toddler glasses. I really need to send them in and get bigger ones for her, I just keep spacing it! They are sitting on my desk too so I'll remember :lol Der mom!

Brishen's that you see him wearing now were custom made for him by Mike. They are 286's and he is sponsored by Aura. :D (we're trying to get him sponsored by gtt, too...but not yet! HINT HINT gtt :D)

Awesome...thanks for that info about Aura. I had no idea. One thing I'm finding out...kids outgrow clothes FAST so I've been worried about financing glasses for a little one who will outgrow them quickly too. Can get very expensive. That's nice Aura has a program in place. Those frames sure fit Brishen's head quite well. He's a cute little dude, too...

Yeah they fit him well...but remember if he does get into it long term, spend the money to get the glasses. Brishen's aren't the kind that they lend out, but since he was really into it for years we went ahead an ordered some 286's for him. I had a pair of 286's I wasn't using anymore so Mike cut the lenses down and fit them a pair of good durable kid frames. I think Mike might have seen something in brishen cause he ended up doing it for free! It was really awesome of them to sponsor him, we can't thank them enough. :D

I feel much more comfortable with the idea of getting Evan on the torch sooner than I had planned. Great information and pictures...thanks for sharing! You've got cute kids as well and I dig their names!

Cute Misha...looks like a burn on his right forearm...or a removed bandage. Has he initiated himself yet with that? Gotta hurt at that age...very good to start young, hell be better then a lot of us at age 12.

Fake tattoo..he hasn't been burned yet, but I tell him he will be and when he gets a burn he's gotta just heal and try again later. We'll see how it goes when it happens...

Misha, you make me feel better about Ian (9) always wanting to blow. We try to keep him on the torch in really small increments so that he stays aware and *fearful* i am afraid for the day that he lets his gaurd down and burns the hell out of himself. Perhaps i need to let him go a bit more. he LOVES vending with us and has been asking to be able to make more pendants. Funny about the assistant thing! Ian says that he is his dad's *inventor* lol the one who comes up with all the ideas to make. I hadn't thought of trying them on the torch so young. Our Braelie is almost 5 and loves to watch but has yet to try. She hasn't asked though either so i will wait until she does. AWESOME to hear about the loaner program for dydid's too.....definetly need to check into that soon.

Misha,
You get my "Outstanding Encouragement of Children Award". :bounce Get them going at this age, and they'll be masters of the future generation.

I made a bottle art thingy by pouring discarded nail polish (two colors) into an empty Crush bottle and swirling it around inside when I was 6. I think I was hooked on glass back then but it took 23 more years to get around to working with it.

Congratulations Brishen and Calista!

(Heather's gonna melt when she sees those pictures)

Hehe thanks you guys for the kind words, from both of us. Calista wants in on the action now so maybe she'll give up some of her glass soon. So far she likes to keep it all, once in awhile she gives me something...so we'll see! :lol

I can't wait to see some more kid glass pics! Post em up parents! :D

SHIT the kid is seven , I think he rocks ! I cant imagine his talent at 15 or 20 shit think of 30 or 40 . He could probably do better work than some of the visitors on here , way cool .

I think its killer how the cats already sold some shit , I saw 15$ for the pendant , damn !!!!
By 8 he will have the torch paid off . Next is the pimp pad .

That's awesome Misha! He's getting good, those are some pretty nice marbles. My daughter(almost 6) has been watching alot more recently and has been wanting to make something, but I've been hesitant to let her step up to the torch so far. I think it's about time I let her try andsee what happens.
