Thats right folks, I am one of the two co-founders of AddictedtoGlass.com... We are a forum sponsor and it is for a reason. We want you to register on our site and sell your work to people like me, who want a great pipe but just don't know where to get one.
We Offer you,
Fixed Price Listings
Auctions
and...
my favorite part of this entire website, the pipe projects section. It is in this section that people will tell you what they want you to make for them. They are requesting custom blown glass from you! You then get to go on and submit a quote. The buyer then looks at your portfolio, and your price, then chooses one of you to make their custom blown piece.
I have done this for those of you who wanted a website, but couldn't for one reason or another, make one. Thank you so much for checking it out.

***EDITED (No longer relevant)***
This will give you a $3.00 credit toward listings, and 15 free listings.
On the 10th the site will be opened up to everybody and stuff will begin to sell... fast.
We do ID verification, and have a liability clause limiting the sellers liability from underage people using our website illegally.

i was wondering if you might elaborate on this a bit. how do you verify somebodies ID over the interwebs? what is this liability clause that you speak of and has it been tested by anybody else that you are aware of? please forgive my questions, i'm quite curious.

Like I said, this is a preview of the site... not everything will be functional yet but it will be on October 10th. This is more so that you all can get a jump on the game.

that sounds like a kick ass idea for a site. Its perfect as long as good prices become a norm. can we keep profiles on the site? or do we have to have our own website or what. I guess I should go look around.
sounds awesome. Im on the wagon already I think but you should still post up some stuff to allow people to feel safer about it. like a copy of the liability stuff

Will the site pop up on google or something? How will the public know about it and start to buy stuff off it?

Well, this one definitely is. As you can tell, the site is NOT completely up yet. We still have a forum and gallery to finish but if you take a look at the page you can see the progress we have made. The fee's have not yet been fixed, but after the initial trial period rest assured on the following points...
1) Your information will be completely secure & private - Addicted to Glass.com will be using military grade encryption. 1024bit to be exact. All credit card handling will be done through a 3rd party merchant account, and all transactions are done between the seller and buyer. Just like any other Auction site. We will also NEVER sell your information to advertisers our send out messages to our members that do not have to do with the site.
2) We Protect Your Liability - We will be ID verifying all post-beta members using the most advanced technology available. We will do this by credit-card verification and in the future we will require all currently registered members to verify their identity. We will also be implementing address verification using either paypal, or google's software.
3) We Provide You with a Service - We have a massive advertising campaign in the works, using TV, Radio, and Magazines, street-level advertising in NYC, and LA. We will get the word out about our website to the public. In order for us to start on this task however, we must have registered users actively selling items. The worst thing that could happen is that we have people on our website and ready to buy, but there is nothing for them to do so.
So this is your call to action. Join our website now and get 15 free listings, and a $3.00 credit toward future listings. Please go on and sell whatever you have laying around, setup a store, and get ready because the storm of sales is coming.
I will do *almost* anything to convince you that we are worthy of your business. Feel free to send me an email john@addictedtoglass.comor even talk to me on AIM sn: AddictedtoGlass
I welcome all questions and can't wait to hear from you.

"well, in order to recieve payment, you will have to use paypal, google checkout, another online service, or check, money-order, etc."

then we will use google check-out, there are plenty of options and all of them are viable and trustworty. We won't have a problem.

Here is what we are doing now...
1) In process of getting very good lawyers to write up our Terms of Service and Privacy Policies.
2) Getting sufficient legal information, outcomes of the court cases of "Operation Pipe Dreams", etc. so that you can have all the information.
3) Possibly moving the business out of the United States, and into Amsterdam.
4) Color coding buyer names by location and risk factor, and allowing glass blowers to refuse sales based completely on their own intuition and our helpful information on buyer locations.
5) Make a Suggestion! I will personally review ALL emails sent to john@addictedtoglass.com and get back to you. I would love to hear any ideas you might have to increase our security and protect your welfare.
