I'm gonna be taking a much needed vacation for two weeks on the Big Island, in the Hilo area. Anyone friendly on the Big Island...?

heh, I have a house for sale near Hilo. It's in Pahoa, in Puna district. If you want directions I can give them to you.
What are you looking for in the way of things to do? The beaches and babes are all on the other side of the island in Kona, but Hilo side has the volcanoes, the food, the Japanese, and the rivers.
and of course, south of Hilo is Puna, some of the most beautiful terrain in the state.
Anyways, it's not like you can't drive to Kona in 3 hours anyways....
Have fun, take lots of pictures, it's been about 5 years since I've seen home.

I plan on snorkeling my brains out, hiking, eating poke till I turn green in the face, and making a migration to Ken's house of pancakes. I also want to check out the hot shop in Volcano and anything else that anyone says is a must do.

Pu`uhonua o Honaunau - I used to live about 1/2 mile down the coast from there in napoo`poo. Went to Honaunau elementary school.
You can see lots of humuhumunukunukuapua`a there.
...anyways....

See if that works.... should give you the directions. The address is 15-2800 Nehu St. Both houses on the lot are included in the price.
Front house is ~1200 SF 2 bd 1 bath, the rear house is ~500sf of "living" space and a large upstairs attic that can eaisly be re-converted into a bedroom, but we had tyo close it off to get permitted for sale. The stairwell is under the house in one piece with the contractors number on it.
Land wise I think it's 1/4 acre, with one close neighbor and national forest on the other side (one lot between you and the national forest, owned by an old japanese lady who lives in japan and doesn't know she owns it....)
No meth lab next door, and Hawaiian Shores is some what less meth infected than the rest of the island, but it's bad everywhere there now. I suspected someone at the head of my street was selling on a small scale, but the drug of choice then was still weed.
Cool feature is the large puka between the houses (a hole, in this case a collapsed lava tube) that we were going to gunite and turn into a pool, but never had the money for it... still, it would be awesome as a pool.
If you get a chance to swing by the place let me know and please take some pictures. We have some care takers, and it's listed and should be available to be shown - but without being there it's hard to know if they're doing a good job.
Have a great trip man, be sure to check out the new lava flow in Orchid land. I guess some houses are being threatened.
