We got selected to be in the MAD museum in NYC for the Cheers show. A mixed media goblet exhibition that includes the likes of Lino, Dante, Luccio, Jay Mussler, Jinny Ruffner, Shane Ferro... the list is not all glass... there is wood, clay and metal as well. I tried to attach the press release but it's too big to attach to this message. Some nice stuff is gonna be there.

I know Stevie is in Colorado teaching right now, so if you see him around congratulate him on breaking into that scene.

And if you're in the NYC area, you may want to check this stuff out. It opens Nov 8th... unfortunately I will be unable to attend the opening due to a scheduling conflict.

I just finished my piece last night and I am waiting to ship next week. Spank Set #3 is going to NYC.

The bottle from the picture plus a goblet. I'm gonna try and get it shot... my camera just died. Supposedly the local paper is gonna come by and do a story on us, I was hoping to get an outdoor shot of me and Milissa with the set.

The funny thing is...

When I was in that Mickelsen class I had very specific things that I wanted to do Graal wise... music and the Spank poster mostly but no idea of a finished piece. The bottle was a spontaneous kind of thing that happened... I couldn't think of what to do with the blank and I knew that I really didn't want to make a goblet because that's what I make at home... so I just kept looking at the first blank and asking myself what I really wanted more than anything... and I wanted a beer. So I made the bottle.

It seems strange that such a spontaneous happening ends up on permanent display in New York. The band (Spank) was around during '94-'95 and we played a normal Monday night gig at John Henry's in Eugene. I wish I still had the tapes... but after I joined the Daddies... shit got wierd with the other members and we all started doing our own projects and the one dude who had all the tapes disapeared. Rehearsal consisted of twenty minutes before the show discussing what we "might" play... then going outside and chugging beers, smoking as much as we could and forgetting what we were going to play and just playing for a few hours... somehow it worked. Most members of the band now live in NYC and play for a living.

I turned 21 the night the Daddies hired me while I was onstage with Spank, trashed out of my mind and ready to take off all my clothes and declare myself free from college forever.
