Has anyone else seen "Glass" by Bert Haanstra?

A friend of mine in the Netherlands sent me a copy of the 10 minute documentary this Dutch filmmaker made about glass blowers. It's all set to music done in the style of the industrial films from the 60's.

One of the things that was interesting was that some of these guys were smoking while working with the blowpipes. I've never seen someone start a bubble while he's got a tobacco pipe or a cigarette in his mouth.

At one point a guy working on a glass assembly line that makes goblets lights his cigarette off the hot glass.

Also, there's a scene where this guy's blowing a massive bell jar in a wooden mold. Oddly though, the mold looks bone dry going in and while he works the piece.

Very interesting film if you can see it.

I'd put it up on YouTube but I don't need to attract any attention to myself, ya know? ;)

Oh, one other odd bit..there's a guy in a tie and button down blowing glass. He barely breaks a sweat though he's got so much product in his hair it's tough to tell :D

i light cigarettes off what ever piece of glass im working on all the time.

and ive also worked with a guy since day one of learning to blow glass that i have never seen break a sweat. its kinda freaky to see somebody in 90+ degree weather wearing corduaroy pants and a black shirt and not be sweating at all.

I don't know how people do it. I mean even out in my shop I look like the grandfather from Lost Boys when he's in his taxidermy shop between the leather apron, uber stylish bandanna, kevlar sleeves and of course my Aura 250/5 goggles.

Of course funnier was the day I scared the crap out of the UPS guy. I was transferring silica flour from it's paper bag to a plastic bucket, so I was wearing a white painters suit, it was muddy so I had on my big storm trooper black boots and I had a respirator hanging around my neck when I met him at the truck. I think he almost wet himself when he came out of the truck and found me there.

i wonder how their eyes are doing, not to mention the cheek puffing. I always thought it was better for your face if you didn't let your cheeks puff out.

That was fun viewing- thanks!
My husband works in a smoke shop (the old men buying cigars kind) and had good fun watching the pipe smoker blowing out the other side of his mouth - good stuff!
