View Full Version : glad to be alive.....
so when i set up my shop i thought i could get away with having my propane inside i know its not recomended but i had flash arrestors on it and it was away from the bench so i wasnt to worried i got a new tank from the gas station and was using it with no problems untill my buddy came in the shop and thought he smelt propane i checked the tank and sure enough the peice of shit valve on it was leaking slowly i took the tank back and got a new one and found a way to keep it out side no more fucking around for me it scares the shit out of me to think about what could have happened so if you have your tank inside find a way to get it outside even if you have done everything right nothing is guarenteeing that when they made the tank they didnt fuck up

Glad you're OK!
I hope you had them throw away the bad one when you took it back in...

Frig, that was close -good job your mate wasn't smoking when he came in.
Propane is heavier than air so it will level off/flow to the lowest point in the building. So you could have a pocket of resistance in a basement and not even know about it.
I always do the soapy water test at each tank change but of course if the valve is leaking... you wouldn't have known.

ved its really cool that you caught the problem right away and you didnt bow up your shop or have any injuries but i think it would be really cool if you used punctuation and capitals so your posts are easier to read i dont want to be a dick but its kind of hard on the eyes and the brain to try and seperate run on sentences from babble and im sure everyone would have an easier time understanding what youre trying to say thanks tom

Haven't we all gotten used to reading those kind of posts yet? Especially on the old board, about HALF of the posts lacked punctuation or capitalization...

even when it's outside, be sure not to be smoking when you go to adjust the regulator. one day mine was leaking so much that you could see a little fume cloud coming out from the connection.
(i like commas, periods & dots...........but i hate slowing for capitals.......but i still love jj's old posts the best. [seriously!] )

close one man... lucky your ventilation system didn't drag the cloud of propane
across your flame and ignite it... :puzzled: things could have gotten ugly, real
quick... uncontrolled explosions are not much fun...:dieslaugh
