Its bad enough they can't speak the language, when they can't spell it either, thats really bad.

Maybe he just wants to copy your designs.

That is what I am thinking. It is a pain in the ass you can not even post a gallery with out ole cheapo import guy trying to figure out your work

Hey bro i know the guy and he happens to work for roor in india. and he's a damn good lampworker. So fucking what if his english sucks. he's trying to get out of the fucked up conditions there so show a little respect for a fellow glassblower. Would you treat him the same if he was from japan or anywhere else? My wife introduced him to GP and GA and the melting pot

...incorrect.
he contacted me via ga. i was skeptical at first but it turns out he is just a good guy trying to make friends. he wants to come here so he can be an independent lampworker, but doesnt have the means. we have been in contact for a while now and he has never asked me any questions as to techniques and what not. he sent me pictures of him and his work and explained to me that, yes, the conditions are poor. however, he loves what he does and there are no other options for him to do it any other way. he would do it for free and admires the opportunities we as americans have to be independent. Wonka had suggested that he apply for the international scholarship for agi and told me to send him here for the agi board. so i told him. its not a big deal. unless, of course you want to make it one. give him a chance, he contacted you with good intentions because he liked what you make. and if were gonna get into all the import shit about it, i hope you have never used any glass made over sees, or where any clothing from pretty much any store you can name, etc.

Yes his English does suck and I was not bashing him at all for that or anything really. I wrote him back. Yes I would treat him the same regardless of where he comes from It was an odd message it is good to know he is a good guy. That was kinda of the point of me asking.

No I am not looking to be a total ass here obviously just a minor one. It was an odd message and to tell you the truth I thought maybe it was some weird scam. As my work is not really all that spectacular to have someone from anywhere asking me about it. I suppose I have low art glass self esteem. He seems nice enough.

I think I was partly to blame, not you. I have respect for any person who lampworks, providing they don't shit on me or anyone else in the field.

I fixed a bunch of stuff from a shop owned by an Indian, just to be nice, and charged him minimul for doing it. I really don't care where someones from, however I do take notice from people that don't take the time to learn to communicate when they ask something of me, its not called making fun of them, its called if you want to better yourself, take the time learn it and you'll go much farther in this business, nothing offensive of that request.

This is nothing.

You should see the correspondances we get from China these days. Unbelievable.

Wouldn't it be really cool if some of us could help him come here and get settled, legally?...?

Yea it would.

But good luck getting an immigrant over here legally in the state that this country is in.
