I have gilberts "glass blowing for boys" aparntly mishia could not of read it based on any of her work I have seen. Because it says basicly that only boys can learn to blow glass.
its a pretty funny book esp sence its recomded for boys aged 8 and up. it has them making there own home made gasoline fuled bellows torch and working with out supervision.
AWESOME!!!!! my parents would fliped when ever they caught me in the garage playing with gasoline and fire when I was 8. ah the 30's-50-s must of been a fun time for kids. man the things they called firecrackers we now call 1/4 sticks.

That's a cool book Misha. I don't know if my boys will want me to read it to them. "It's pink and got a girl on it" I can hear it now. I'm still gonna try and find it local. Since we're on the subject of kids books here's my boys favorite book (and mine too)

THANKS!!! Just ordered it for Braelie's birthday. She'll love it. She saw the pix of Brishen and really wants to learn now. It will be a perfect gift for her.

Smutboy420,I grew up in those days down on the Gulf coast.
Summertime, up at 5:00 or 6:00, grab our fishin stuff and the lunch you made last nite, meet several friends, go down to the hiway and hitch 50 miles to the fishin areas near Galveston. Make firecracker guns out of pipe and shoot marbles at the jackrabbits. Make rockets out of charcoal, saltpetre from the grocery store, and sulfur collected from the RR tracks. Blew the back door off the garage, way cool! Swim in any water deeper that 12". Every kid had a BB gun. Shot squirrels with a 22 at 8. All before we were 10 yrs old. Got a cool ride in a new Olds 88, early hot V8... really something in 1950, '52. My Dad let my brother and I drive to church by ourselves at age 12 in an old '49 chevy coupe. It was only a mile straight down a road from our driveway to the church parking lot... but there were "detours".

Not so many crazies around then, safer, couldn't do that today, too many lawyers.
play like you mean it. PJH

Really, "Glass Blowing for Boys" DOES Exist??
I told someone about this years ago and then couldn't find it again...I thought it was 'Glassblowing for Young Boys', and was concerned that it could have been a figment of my imagination, some sort of confusion about the Hammesfahr/Stong book 'Creative Glassblowing'.
Thats great. I feel better now.
