I will be ordering my first pair of specs soon, problem is I cant decide which auras to get. I will be working on a phantom sized torch, making marbles and pendants mainly. I plan on doing some fuming but not all the time.
I cant decide weather to go with the 3/5 shade 1/2 split or 2/3 split or all one shade. If I go with the 2/3 split should I have 2/3 of the lens shade 5 and 1/3 of the lens shade 3 or the other way around?
What would you recommend?

Personally I don't like the split shades. I tried them for a week or so, and found that I was unintentionally always looking through the lighter part. The old "path of least resistance" thing I guess.

I just went with the darker lenses, and added more lights to my shop.

I'm 100% with cosmo on that.

I used 3/5 split 186's for a long time, and I ALWAYS cheated looking over the top, leading to eye and neck strain.

I recently got a pair of 250-#5 with full coverage in a biker frame, and I _LOVE_ them. best $230 I've spent on glass supplies ever.

You'll need more light at the bench, but big deal.... a couple halogen clamp lights work great.

Anyways....

lenses: 250 (or 203 if you're being cheap)
frame: Biker or Rec/Sport frame (like the biker but with face padding, pretty much)

Don't skimp on glasses, they're worth every penny.
