Is there anything wrong with chinese glass, I mean quality wise, is it crappyer than the major brands we have here? Why are they many times cheaper?

The clear I have had some success with, but it's hit or miss. I love the Amber, and use quite a bit of it. The cobalt is cobalt, so it works. I haven't used the pink, red, or purple. The green always cracks in everything I use it with. The black works okay by itself, but it swallows up any colors you put over it. I have had luck covering the black with clear and then putting colors over it, but it's more trouble than it's worth for me.

ever heard of outsourcing... the Chinese work for under a fraction of that which is the american work force wage... I.e. if your paying your employees, 10 dollars and hour, and your competitor in china is paying their employees .10 cents an hour, there a little room for fluctuation w/ product cost... on the end of your competitor...

The cobalt rod and tube is great. The pink doesnt crack or anything but the color is almost nonexistant = limited applications. Love the amber. Have had a lot of problems with green. Cracking during and after. Striking red tube is fun, but the strike seems hard to control. Neat effects, though. Never used the black.

The clear seems to work really good. Just dont use chinex. There are different quality levels in even the chinese glass. There are a lot of threads about this subject. Search them out for more info.

The purple works great and looks wonderful on Christmas ornaments. I too have had problems with green. Like mentioned above the pink is really light. If your blowing it out thin you can't tell the diffferent from clear. Actually, I have trouble telling the difference even before blowing it out. -dave

in the walmart world we live in I can't help but buy some cheep stuff. I have never had any crack that wasn't my fault. I'm using a Delta though. (the torch makes a differance) If I could find a good black tube elsewhere I would buy it. Anyway good luck. I use them all the time. I also spend plenty of $ US suppliers and when they make colored tubing they will have all of my $.

I know, its kind of like picking up an 8 year old prostitute while in thailand, sometimes an impulse buy just grabs you.
