I know this question gets asked quite a bit, but my situation is a bit different. How much for 40 hour a week access, electric and gas included, a phantom with marver, AIM 99 ld, all hand tools pictured(I keep all the graphite pimp), discounted raw supplies and a meal per day?
I am renting this to a glass blower that lives 13 miles from the studio.
Thanks,
boxfan

Worth more than the standard $250-$350. Shit with a meal and torch and tools, $450-$500. Everything one would need is there, all the renter needs to bring is experience.

Break down your overhead for the month to the hour, and charge him that.Morgage or rent, hydro, gas, glass.Mine works out to be just under 12.50 an hour.so about $500 a week.I'd also get him to pack his own lunch,or tack on an extra $50 a week to feed him

thats pretty sweet set up. I have a guy that rents a space in my shop. I include free coffee, torch use, discount on glass, and access to all my tools. I prob don't charge enough but I charge him $25 a day. It pays for my propane and oxy so thats good. Great deal for him, should charge more but it works.

I think you should charge over 500 for sure. Breaking evrything down to a number would take out the guesswork.
I don't however think your vent set up is adequate. I mean I guess it depends on what your making somewhat but by the picture it seems as though there may be a good amount of lingering time for the vapors. Have you done any kind of smoke test?

Wil has posted some really good info about ventilation in a number of threads where that topic has been raised. I actually used his cambering theory in developing my ventilation (which works quite well, I am happy to say :D ) I'd be willing to bet that the booth pictured has more than adequate ventilation.

Well worth 500 a month... It's a pricless spot ...750 maybe?
$500 a month sounds really fair to me. Especially with the use of the tools and the meal.
In Oregon I paid $300 a month for just a 6x4ft bench space. I had to supply my own oxygen and propane, I had to fight to get a place to store materials, the shop was a filthy mess the whole time with rotting garbage piling up and I always seemed to blow through a liquid dewar in like 10 days in that shop were as everywhere else I've ever worked they last 5 weeks(hmm).
So yeah $500 a month for all that and to get to work along side of you is a steal.

Thanks for the feedback. 500 hun it is! I was wondering how I was going to pay for those benches.

Hard to say. We rent torch time for $10 an hour, and a lot of people tell me that's too cheap. So, that would be $400 a week for a 40 hour week. Adding in food, I think $500 a week is a bargain. Especially using a Phantom (we use Minors), and giving them a discount on glass.

I will check out the info in the search. I may learn this after I read up but does this design also handle particulates?

Snap, I missed the doubter(JK). Glassroots, I am running 5000 cfm between 3 stations. My room exchange rate is once every 65 seconds. Taking out all 90 deg angles and "softening deadspots" decreases turbulence and increases velocity, along with the Venturi style taper. Also, the exhaust hole at the top of my station will allow for 2000 cfm to pass, approximately 72 square inches. The problem I have run into is that particulates cling to my sheetrock on the back wall as they "walk up" to the exhaust hole. I should face it off with sheet metal for cleaning.
What size of particulates? Yes it moves small particulates including all bubble trash, but I would like to eventually like to install a seperate high cfm "burst" exhaust wired to a wall switch for powder work or if when I am using silver nitrate and stannous(oooh, nasty) or other bad shit.
Here's the link to the smoke test. This was towards the end of a smoke bomb and all vapors cleared in a couple of seconds:

is there gonna be a schedule time that the shop is open for work, or can the person come to the shop whenever they feel like they are inspired to work? like say late night or very early in the mornig? can they only stay for 8 hours a day five days a week? or can they work 10-12 hours a day for only 4 days a week? and is the meal gonna be full of tofu and beans and carrots if the person is vegitarian? oh yeah thats right, your in texas, noone even knows what vegitarian means down there.:D

Shttrd Spectrum: the last vegetarian was bar-b-qued back in the 90's, I think. The meal ranges at times. Usually, it's home cooked, beans and cornbread kinda stuff. Sometimes it's a slam sammie and some chips, safety breaks a plenty.
If this cat worked full time, i wouldn't be renting him a station(haha). But yes, flexible hours. Only rule is I get to choose the music during off hours and the weekends. i am an NPR nerd of the fourth circle and get real grumpy when I don't get my "Thistle and Shamrock" on...Oh Yeah!!!
Doug, I am sorry. It's hunting season. I was wondering what that parchment was attached to that falcon. Got caught in my teeth. Mmmmmm, tasty though. Thanks.
Use ma bell, we're here for the holidays.

How much are you charging the guy? I think that $500+ is totally fair for all that stuff. I used to charge $400/month to a guy for unlimited time but he had all his own tools, kiln, torch, and lunch.
I need to rent a spot like your right now! (Hint, hint to anyone in Long Beach, CA)
