I came home from a 13 hour shift on my busy cardiac floor. One my patients died too... anyways... My girlfriend calls me, "Um.. I think your house was broken into"
Yeah, motherfuckers took my digicam, my wii, my special cooking herbs, a shitty laptop, a safe with 600 cash, 10oz of siver, SS card... a few other random things. for some reason they left my nice $2200 mac , and did'nt get into my garage where all my glass gear is.
fucking shit..
some of my neighbors got hit. , i'm really not that upset anymore after venting. I'm actullay looking forward to my police report, the buffalo police are hillarious folks.

Unfortanitly tis the season. I am sorry to hear about what happend. My buddy house was robbed a few weeks ago and they took a Wii, my torch, and other odds and ends. I think if meth was eradicated we would see a 60% drop in theft, robbery, ect ect.

meeh... i just found that that if i make a claim I would only get maybe $1000 after my deducatble, and then my rate would go up so much it would'nt be worth it. I'm about to go buy a steel door. the shit they took can be replaced for a few grand, but the fact that my girl won't be able to sleep here alone and feel safe for awhile is what bothers me.
I still got two torches and a kiln!

That really sucks big time, I just can't imagine how devestated I would be if I lost that much stuff, especially when I couldn't afford to replace it.

Did the laptop have any data that can't be replaced or is sensitive ? That is the thing that would freak me out the most, if thieves got my laptop or external hard drives I would be freaked and fucked because not only is there so much personal data on there, but there is so much non-backed up data that is sentimental to me like photos of family, friends, good times, memories and lots of data I use to keep my life organized.

SteppingRazor, you should start hitting pawn shops in a 1mi radius around your place. Dude probably just carried it to the closes fence and hawked it. If you can prove it's yours the pawn shops can get shut down for buying stolen goods if there'sd been a history.

But seriously, I am one of those people that keeps dozens of lists on my computer of things to do, I can't remember names, addresses, phone numbers, etc in data bases. I create tons of excell spreadsheets to organize my finances and I have all my back email for many many years and I use my email to keep track of the conversations I have had with people so I know what I have talked about and where we are at in our on going conversation, etc...

In short, I would be fucked if I lost all my data, hence why the raid server is something I really need, eventually I would like off site backup as well.

...actually I make it a point to just wipe out my past every few years.... never intentional, but it seems to happen every 3-5 years, I'll just forget what I'm doing and format my hard drives.

really it's just shit they took. that laptop was like 8 years old, it was given to me when my friend updated his office. The camara was nice, 5 years ago, now the cheapest SLR digicam is better. My Ipod nano.. fuck i'm gunna miss that thing. they did take a safe, with about 1000 in cash and metal.
so what.. i make a pretty good living outside of glass. 50k a year goes along way in shit poor buffalo.
Getting gun would'nt keep me safe. the fuckers would just steal that then use it to stick up other hard working people. Besides If i owned a gun, i would have surely used it on my ex-girlfriend. Bitch stole from me to buy herion...

This is a rough city, there was a murder on my street 3 years ago. Carjacking not to long ago. Almost everyone I know has had a break in once or twice. What was stolen from me was nothing of real value. Really it made me look at what I have and realize that my family, education both formal and glass related are the only things of true value. With them I was able to get all the material things I needed or wanted.
