Well i got my gas kiln done today, tomorrow i am testing it for it's heating qualities. I think the 250,000 BTU burner will be a bit overkill but maybe i can get it up to full heat in just a matter of a few minutes. Well ill get some pics on here towmorrow and an update of how it went. :bounce

I think you will find that you keep overshooting your set temperature, or if you adjust to keep from doing that, your "swing" temperatures will be fairly large.
I think you have overdone the amount of heat you need for the kiln by at least a factor of 10, if not 25 or more.
What you have to remember is that once the refractory reaches temperature stability, firing up the heater is going really kick out the heat, and if you have your controller set for, let's say, a 10 degree (which is pretty wide) temperature allowance, your heater is going to be cycling very fast - which fuel gas valves are NOT designed to do.

Ok so it didn't go as planned lol. i almost made a big fire ball, the brass fitting on the rubber hose to the heater got too hot for the rubber and it started to form a bubble, good thing i was watching it cause i seen it smoking a little. Well the inner layer is a bit over kill and it took 30 minutes to get even warm inside, but from there it stayed hot even without the burner for at least 4 hours and it was no where near the 1050F mark, it died to fast so we didn't get it up to full heat, but my friend is going to make me up some copper line for it so it wont melt! BTW it doesn't have to be full blast to heat it up. But i think the 4 3/4" brick bottom was over kill, and it has double layered walls with an air gap in between them. I think im taking out the inner layer and making the bottom only 1 1/4" thick so it will heat up a little quicker. Sorry no pic today i forgot to get my camera today maybe tomorrow its another day. Peace out:peace:
