Hey everyone, love the forum. Been reading for a few days here.
I'm just getting back into blowing glass, as soon as I get my gear back out of storage. I worked at it for about 2 - 2.5 years before that whole life thing (read: significant other) got in the way, looking forward to becoming a part of the community again.
Anyways, introductions out of the way, now the question. Anyone know of a glass supplier near Salem, Oregon? I just moved up here and I'm at a total loss for where to go for materials, not really looking forward to driving clear to Eugene everytime I need glass.
Thanks for the stockpile of information here,
Geoff

Welcome! :D
There are local stores here in portland, none that I know of in eugene. You can order clear and have it shipped to you through us for a great deal. try www.undergroundglass.com
so what do you make?

As long as I've been away from the torch, I suspect all I'll be making for a while is a mess :P
I started out pulling cain for a company down in Grants Pass, went on to make mainly spoons, some bubblers, small brandy glasses, marbles and pendants. Basic "working to pay for my glass habit" sort of creations, had a blast. Gained a bit of talent, but I'm guessing after this long without working at it I'm gonna have to start from scratch.
Do you offer local pickups? I'd imagine shipping would be quite a bit when ordering cases of rod/tube.

nope but we can do group orders to save a ton on shipping. :D
Sounds like you made quite a few things. I bet you'll be making more than a mess hehe.

Check down at the Chemeketa Community College (http://www.chemek.cc.or.us/programs/glass/index.html) , faculty or some student may know . or try the local shops Smokey's or T-Zones , they may know . The Guy at Smokey's I think makes some of his own work , so They may have a hook up .
Otherwise shipping can cost but usually not too bad . If Misha wont do pickups , There are other suppliers in Portland , color GA , Bullseye , clear I can only think of The Third Eye Shoppe ( but no cases ) . You also got to figure GAS , its what around 50-60- miles each way (about an hour or so) , 30 miles a gallon , $6.00 each way $12 total then wear and tear and probably lunch ... It may just be easier and more reasonable just to ship .

I know you said you didn't want to drive to Eugene, but Winship is an option if you decide to go for a drive, lol. They have alot of supplies.

I'm sure I'll be taking a few roadtrips for gear & glass. (Besides, who doesnt dig the occaional roadtrip?) Durring the move and the break I've lost a ton of stuff, hotfingers and a few carbon tools are definately #1 on the purchase order. At least I've still got a huge pile of hardibacker :)
Thanks for your responses, everyone. Its way appreciated, I'm looking forward to contributing some decent glass shots in the near future.
