Made this today,it's inspired by Jes's sculpture & the abundunce of wild mushrooms growing in the California woods now during the rainy season.
The cup's a tiny bit crooked, but my oxy tank was a hair above empty,so I rushed to get a top on,I had just enough oxy to blow a quick top out of 1" heavy & weld it on.When I get the oxy re-filled,I'll re-heat & fix it.Anyways, this was a challenge & I pulled it off,no crackage or weight issues, although my kiln is a bitch. It's a top loading paragon caldera with a bead extention & the front door only has 3" high clearance,so once I welded the third big shroom I had to punty up with a ridiculously long punty & set the piece in the top
while I worked on the mini cluster. I had to pull it out & put it back in a few times like this & was sure I'd drop it or burn myself as I usually do when I have to do that, but every dog has his day I guess. I threw in a pic of it filled with wine just to show it's a solid & even weighted piece. This is a piece I'll probally make more of,so I'll post one in the future when my skills improve.:D
