Looks real nice ACE! How do you get those textured lines? Is it just lines of clear spiraled?

did you trade brandon or mike? my guess is brandon... he's slowly becoming quite the collector of other people's work.

curious about all the delightful extras for the stem, very very well done, do you make each piece then put it all together cold or make each piece and garage them then wait till they cool down then assemble them cold or do you make each piece then garage them and put them together hot? oh what size contorax do you like use for a piece like this?Have you tried that color contorax, red blue, amber? bravo, jes

maybe 17 inches? either 17 or 18.....i never actually saw it out of the kiln, so i didn't measure it...thats just a guesstimation.

brandon! hey the marble is up at the ND, you should take a peek next time youre over there and tell me how sweet it is!

thank you :)

i just made it as i went along throwing on the attachments as i made them...i was just playing around, i didn't have a game plan... BUT, if i did- the easiest way for me to assemble a stem like that would be to make all your attachements , garage them, and assemble them hot.

i always use 50 mil conturex, generally speaking my work is pretty large, even something like this (around 17 inches) is on the smaller side for me so anything smaller than 50 is just silly! i have not tried the color conturex, have you? i heard the green is a but shocky, but other than that i dunno :D

I like this one, but not as good as the shake your bones cup. That is a killer idea, and this one is cool too.

The only thing I would say, (and I know this photo was sent to you) is start getting something going on with your photo's. I don't believe I've seen any of your work with super kick ass photography yet. You gotta start getting a pro to do it, or learn how to do it yourself. A good photo (and I know I'm not one to talk, because alot of my photo's are kind of barfy) will increase the value of the piece quite a bit.

Go forth and conquer.

your very right rex, but in my defense i have had a very poor history with cameras...i lose them i break them they get stolen....i haven't even had one for like a year now!! when i was in school i would just snap the photos in the crit room after crit, and the lighting always sucked in there too... but that is something i need to figure out.

it'll make my new website look nicer too if the photos didn't all look like butt. :)

nice piece ACE. I love the scalloped tube to, it has a unique propertys when it is being melted and shaped(the riges tend to give the bubble more structure when it gets thin). One tip i have recently discovered is this..: to get a thinner rim on your cup, try using a softer inner (no turbo) flame when flaring. I have come to this conclusion because all my cups made on the red max( and natural gas)have thin rims.

I have a case of the blue scalloped tube and a few of the green scalloped tubes.
the blue is killer, i think a lighter shade would be great too.

the green is tempermental. as long as you don't twist it up or work it for extended time it is nice. If you try to twist it up or flair it out in to a plate, it gets clowdy loking and then blows in to little chunks when it cools
it does this in and out of the kiln.
happy torchin
hopefully i will post some of my goblet work soon

Hey thats a great goblet, ACE. Very cool.

Whered you get the Conturax? Couple of us at VCU are looking to buy a case or two, but noone has 30-50mm in stock. Best Adam could find was 22mm, which would probly disinigrate with one turn on the CCs at school lol.

wow very nice..interesting combo what with the skulls and flowers but it comes across really nicely. the cup and foot are friggin flawless which i imagine is not an easy task on the scalloped tube. well done :)

hey rob! try mike up at new dynasty, if its not in stock im sure he'd be happy to get some for ya ASAP. you might have to drive an hour and a half to get it, but if you're buying a few cases the shipping ain't so cheap. adam knows how to reach him. if he can't help you try glasscraft, they've always been pretty good to me.
