Hi, i have a question that some of you might have some experience with. I recently got a delta and have been raging it pretty hard. The last 3 days saw aprox. 40 hours. )which is about the hours i work in a normal week) I was just havin fun making big stuff. I broke my Aura 3/5 splits and had on my old didys(the ones that come with like every kit) This morning i woke up and the area around the outside of my right eye is very tender and it hurts when i blink. Is this being caused from the heat or radiation from the torch?

Could be. Go to Aura lens site and read up on what filters work for boro. Diddys are for soft glass, although I know a few guys who use them for boro. But their torches are not Deltas!! That is some intense flame and very bright as well. I worked a cheetah for 4 hours with diddys abd had a headache the next day all day.
I would get some good filters if you are gonna be raging like that.
You only have one set of eyes........

around the outside of your right eye? as in the white of your eye, or the skin near your eye ball?

that specific aside, yeah.. your eyes prolly took some damage. working big with shade 5 auras isn't enough coverage. some people's eyes are more sensitive than others.. but.. you can check aura's page for their guidelines.

i have shade 5's, and my eyes would get dry/hurt when i blink if i worked big stuff a few days in a row.. or just long hours. this isn't always due to the heat and/or UV, this is sometimes due to not blinking enough.

i got a blastshield ( www.theblastshield.com ), and i haven't had a problem with my eyes since.

now.. go get some proper eyewear!

I have been working with did's the last month and my eyes always hurt after a session and thats on my little bullet. I never got to the point of a welding sand in the eye pain though. And I would loose night vision and my eyes would take forever to adjust for a good 4 hours or more. I got my 3.5's in yesterday and I don't think they are dark enough. I did marbles till 4 am last night and when I left the shop and turned out the lights i couldn't see shizzle for the rest of the night.

ha, I was surfing that site you just linked and it has a blast sheild for nationals. LoL, could you really ever need one for that? I mean it costs like half as much as the torch itself =p

dude the premix 8M is nasty. Its the size of the flame that makes it a pain but that sucker is hot.

yea I could see one on an 8m maybe, but that shield looked like it was for the small ones. I had a friend with an 8m and I couldn't even pop a bowlhole with the tip he had on it.

sorry to highjack, but this looks like a proper place to post, So recently (past few months) I picked up a delta last june..... Every time i rage it on large hunks of glass the next day i get up (which can be like 10 hrs later) I cant stand light! I feel like a crackhead, the light from my tv is too bright, or the light of a 60w lamp...... This seems to last for multiple hours, and it really sucks when i have a biz trip and have to drive 200 miles in the sun! I wear 3/6 split lens biker wraps, perhaps they have no protection from heat and my eyeballs are being dried out? I just ordered a gold face sheild, hope it helps...

make sure you're not looking through the lightly shade lens, always look through the darker one when it's bright. if that or the face shield doesn't work maybe you need darker lens. eye moisturizer?

yeah you screwed with your eyes for sure...I did this years ago on a major before I knew better than to use didys...throw that shit away man that delta will do you no good when you are blind. Go see a Dr. if it doesnt get better within a day or 2. I had the itch the weepy eyes and couldn't stand it so I had to go see the doc and I had burned the crap out of my left eye...I didn't torch for about 2 weeks after than and still to this day long hours on the torch with good glasses my left eye becomes irritated. BE CAREFUL try not to hang right over the flame and good luck.

i used diddys for 3 years on a major minor and thought it was all good. now whenever i work intense for days on end my eyes become irritated, scratchy, blink a lot, and feel like something is stuck in it. even with shade 4. sometimes i justify it by thinking maybe i just smoked to much. kind of scary! DONT USE DIDDYS FOR BORO!!

shit maybe i ruined my eyse doing iso prodo, because i used to find myself looking above my shades to see better.... DONE USE BIKER WRAPS , they are too easy to look over, and they dont sheild heat from my eyes good at all

Don't Look Over Top Of Your Glasses Or Through The Lighter Shade-bad Habit

It's been awhile but pretty much told me to not make glass for 2 weeks if I really insisted on doing it at all...hahaha....and gave me some kinda drops, probably something to hydrate my eyes. I think he said I actually burned or jerkied the white part mostly...been alot of years <7> but whatever it did was permanent to some extent.

i have the 3/5 split torques which are like biker wraps but with foam around the eyes. so far ragin on my delta all i have noticed is that i need to put on more sunscreen. i dont know about you guys but when going big i have real long punties and rollers so i dont have to have my face right in it. i catch mytself sometimes staring through the top part of my glasses all dumb when its real bright but am getting more in the habit of using the darker part more often. i worked on my cuda for 2 years with reg didys making i/o sppons and stuff and after 2 years my eyes started hurting after a long day of work. got my glasses and havent had any probs since.

i have used diddys for 8 years no eye damage at all but i do not have blue/green/hazel eyes. i did try shade 4 once but i could not see out of them at all. your prob. not african/middleastern decent so your eyes are more light damaged by the spectrum of the light that the torch produces.
some people with blue or green eyes need extra protection shade 6 is the common shade needed for people with this need
