i know gtt valves give out eventually, but i'm starting to think it can be due to the cold.. i've had this problem twice with a used mirage, i figured it was because it was older.
i just got a brand new mirage.. and now, a couple weeks later, it is leaking propane from the outer valve.
it's cold here in minnesota, it's about 18 a couple feet from the torch. not THAT cold.. but.. it's cold.

anyway.. gtt is closed atm, so i can't ask them right now..
i'm wondering if there is another valve that might be used.. or a valve grease or something to do for this..

blah. i hate smelling propane.. rant rant bitch bitch moan moan. :depressed :bangHead:

man, i don't know anything for sure but,
it shouldn't be leaking in my way of thinking...

it would seem like a phone call is in order...
i would be interested in what they have to say...

I have never heard of a valve leaking before on a GTT. I have had my phantom like 8 years and no problems at all. Anyone else have a leaky valve? Must not be a common problem. Willy and Wally have great customer service and will be able to help you out and quickly. Good luck.

When you mentioned this last time, I thought I had the same problem, but it wasnt the case. The hose clamp of one of the propane lines was a bit loose, tightened her up and no more propane smell.

I think you are tightening them too tight . They are presicion tuned , so if you over tighten you can crack or break the seal . I have never had a leak (knock knock) and at first , tightened real good cause I was scared of leaving them cracked open . I now accept them for not having to be way tight just snug , after having a talk with one of the Ws .
If this has happend with multiple torches , all own by the same person , thats my guess .

I have a leaky outer propane valve too!! what i do to stop smelling propane is this:
I use an in line (red) propane regulater on the line going to my outer propane. Then i just turn the propane knob on the torch all the way up/open....when i want to adjust the propane on the outerfire i adjust the (inline) reg and leave the knob all the way open... i hope that helps. it has worked for me for the past two years. and it helps ya keep your flame nutral/oxy+ as well

I have a leaky propane knob on my hand torch, W&W will want to replace it, I haven't had the time to be without my torch. Doesn't seem like a huge problem, just smells really bad.

It's not a huge problem, that is until the propane ignites...

Propane leaks need to be fixed immediately, if not sooner.

Try turning off the valve when there is burning propane leaking all around it. Chances are you've already dropped it on the floor or the bench where it has started a fire.

I ain't sain', I'm just sayin'...

yeah, i'm not into waiting for problemswith a propane leak. last time i waited 2 weeks till i could buy a backup.. time befre, i found a backup within couple days..

damn wirele skeyoard... dying

wally couldn'tthink of why a new valve would leak..dropped orbanged was his only guess... neither of which seems tohave happened..

baffling.
