ive been meaning to post some pics here, this is what I have been doing this year so far...
I have tons of gong orders, so i havent even made a pipe yet this year...only slides..
but i get to put alot of work into some of them, so its still very enjoyable.

ill post new stuff in this thread as I make it...thanks for looking!

Nice pcs. I made a friend a GOG bowl and he wants a matching stem. So the bowl was a 14mm so for the stem do I top it with a 14mm female? Thanks and again those look great.

its double blown! hahahaha

Hefe
02-01-2008, 06:10 AM
i dunno what the tech is called, i call em windows..

fade to clear reversal with anotther blown into it....DONT GET BUBBLES!

jonas , for the 14mm slides i make, i normally include a bushing diffuser, which is made to fit a 18mm tube, with a 14mm slide.

PyroChixRock

Nice work, I love that technique. I stumped a few of my shopmates with a very similar technique three or four years back. You definitly do the trick justice, I'd like to know how far you've been able to experiment with it. There are a ton of applications to that style. One of my favorites is to choose two colors (acid yellow and chocolate for example) and coat the outside of a tube half and half running down the length unencased and spin it all in one direction tightly and reverse it, then drop that one inside of an inside out flare that has alternating lines of acid yellow and chocolate (with plenty of clear left between every line) that has been wig wagged and reversed. When done properly you get a reversal where your yellow line turns brown and then back to yellow at every turn of your reversal and vise versa with your brown lines while the background is having the same effect going the other way. The true trick with it is that if you can pull off the inside out flare slash reversal without letting the pattern get melted up and into the glass it will have no break with the pattern underneath it and will fool the eye into thinking that it was one piece and pattern once they melt together. Anyways I really like your work and wish you the best of luck on the torch although it doesn't look like you need it.

a nice slide set, pulled some draconis tubing yesterday, the rods were the size of stringers, so i had to do a bunch of layers...not too bad though.
thanks to a fellow artist for offering his stash of draconis.. I will be using the colors more in the future...
this slide has the light blue and dark blue satins across from black and white satin stripes, with a green border.
ill be making bigger stuff with it soon, just had to test it with some prodo..

that color is sick as are the pieces, what is draconis, and what are the blue colors you got there super sweet...

Hefe
09-26-2008, 11:56 AM
draconis is a old EXTINCT color company.

abe bought the recipes from the company for these "satins"...which include the white, and blues that I used in this piece. the white looks like crushed pearl and the blue is very satiny.
good luck finding these colors around, they have been gone since 06 or so..
thanks to another artist to offer me a little to rock out in my work.

I LOVE IT!

CripSkillz

is that some fro influence in the stem?

Hefe
01-15-2009, 10:45 PM
i guess if its possible there is any fro influence left after the last 6 or so years..

my learning from fro consisted of 4 days of watching him blow glass at his place in VT many many years ago.
my style, shaping, linework, and everything else has evolved since then, but im sure there are some basic fro-ish features in my work that will always be there.

thanks for the kind comments everyone..i love this one alot. i really would like to keep it.
its gonna be a great functioning piece too

I've wanted to make bullets for a while now (bulletproof glass) but havnt tried hard enough yet. I had a couple alright ones. Great way to execute it. Bullet onies was my plan too. There's always shotgun shells.
