Swap challenge

I've noticed that some of the other forums have bimonthly swaps (trades) or challenges.I like the idea of this,and think it would be great to get something like this going on the gldg.Anyone interested???

We all tend to have some of the same things in our shops/studio's
certain colours,rod,and tubing sizes.

it would be fun to pick out some colours,a certain amount of tube,and rod.And see what we can come up with.And to make it a little more exciting,we'll trade the finished pieces with each other.

As for the trade,maybe we can get a mod to draw the names out of a hat,to see who will be trading with who.Once we have a confirmed list of participants,we'll ask a moderator politely to take care of this.

This is open to everyone...vetrans,and noobs alike.I encourage members to take part.



Challenge =What can you do with??

1. One 6 inch rod of cobalt blue
2. One 6 inch rod of white
3. One 6 inch rod of crayola orange
4. One 6 inch 12mm clear rod
5. 5 inches of 38 x 4mm tube ( not including point or blow tube)

Rules

the only rule,is that you cant exceed the ingrediants list.Other then that do what you want.the sky is the limit as far as design goes.You can make anything from an art piece to a pipe,anything you want!!!!

Don't post any pics of your work,we'll keep it secret until we send them off to each other.Once we recieve each others work,we'll post pics of what we got and who it was from.


Sign up dead line will be sunday the 1st of march 08
We should shoot for the 15th of march to mail off the finished pieces to each other.

sounded really cool the first 5 times its been tried but IT NEVER WORKS
there are LOTS of people here that have sent out a trade and never got one back.

so count me out and not trying to be a dick but i encourage others to not get caught up in this mess cuz someone will get screwed i guarantee it.

There's a way to make it work. You have everyone ready at the deadline send in their work and you divy it up amongst the people who sent stuff in. You don't send somethign in on time, you don't get anything back.

I like that idea! I always like the swaps and trades but watched them fail time after time. Keep us posted.

the sign up list via mailing in is really the only way i see it working. it's the only way i've done the trades.

im doing a trade like this on le right now its like a person (kurt?) hosts the exchange so we all gotta send our piece to him with either return envelope or loot for postage, and by the deadline to get our stuff in if ur stuff isnt there ur out.
i cant make something to send out by march 1st but if thats sign up and not have ur stuff there date, im in :) fair warning tho im still a noob.

I was thinking it would be fun to have a non-commputer based gldg activity.I didn't really consider,that some people might sign on and then not follow through.

The idea of signing up by mailing in the piece would work,and i'd take part.I dont think i would be the best candidate to recieve and remail the pieces out,as i'm in canada.It would be costly and time consuming as far as the mailing goes.

I think we should cancel.reorganize,and try again.

Are there any mods that would be willing to organize something.Or be willing to recieve and distribute the pieces.???
