I started out with the basics.....

I made trash for about 6 months...... then prodo , and still cant make headies , i just keep working and working.... and i slowly escape in to differnt things when my prodo pays for enough time to play.......

Its all production ..... even headies turn into production at some point......

get used to it...

i make up peices for myself mainly cause i wanna do it , then when they sell i factor in the time it took to make em....

I will say i have seen a whole lotta people trying to make "headies" all day long but there fundementals are crap so it never turns out clean and nice like they should be.

Also you need to figure out what headie means.... a true definiction while talking to me a headie is just something that shows personal style with clean lines in that style form and function that is as good and complicated as the glass artist can make them.

I started with prodo, left it alone and came back to it...
I'm very cheap with my color and unless the price is
right I refuse to stack...

I think in a sense, we all start with prodo. What we do is expensive. And craftsmanship takes time. If we didn't make lots of sellable objects none of us would ever afford to get really good at it (makin' headies). Trust me, no one just jumps into the glassworld making only headies. I started as a lampworker. Made a little turtle for my first piece. "O.K. now make 100" was the mentality. I make nice stuff from time to time, but mostly prodo. Been on the torch ten years now. Never done a stickstack. Who knows when you get good. I still make trash pieces ocassionally.

On the torch since 99'. Started making prodo and made alot of it. Last couple years started doing some nicer stuff. So busy now not much time to have fun but thinking this next year I will have time to branch out a little more. I too still occasional make trash pieces. I think if you never make a trash piece you are not trying hard enough or pushing your boundaries.

Jesus it is nice to read those last three posts. I will lump myself in with them. I the past I have had a one gallery show of mostly non-functional art. And one to three times a year I make a few headdies for a festivals. Other than that I I'm making money to feed the family and pay the mortgage.

I just wanted to do marbles and sculptureral. Maestro is pimping me out though and now I am a glass whore. If you wanna pay for it and its in my skill range I'm in. I gotta pay for this equipment somehow.
