More marbles, some using copper and others using dichro. I am looking for comments on what I can do to improve. I am getting my dichro to get a crackle effect pretty consistantly and I am happy with the results as of late. The copper marble was made from scrap junk I had left over, all dumped into clear and twisted. I added some color chunks with the copper prior to encasing. The third marble was an attempt to encase an old penny. The heat sucked off the copper and left the zinc in the penny. I encased the ghost image and backed it with back so I could see it better. The penny did not go into the encasing, only the ghost image.

Your thoughts..... thanks.

your copper work is awesome. i dont really make marbles so i know of nothing that you could be doing different or better. and that penny one is pretty crazy.

yeah, the penny is really an interesting effect, i'd like to see more work in this direction. it augments the work that you've been doing with the copper nicely. maybe a combination of the two would be neat.

also, you're working your dichro properly as far as not burning it out (which is the hard part). i would suggest perhaps wiping the edges round after you get the dichro encased so you don't get that edge. it looks better if you get the dichro up to the edge.

as for the girl, it seems to objectify female sexuality and i wonder if that's really what you were going for. the mudflap hotty isn't a sophisticated image and doesn't seem to fit with what i've seen of your other work. i'm not against it, i'm just surprised to see it in your work.

please read that as a compliment. these marbles are great as usual, just surprising to me in that one aspect.

I have a truck driving (cross country) friend that wanted a mud flap marble so I made it for him.

The penny one is practice for a commissioned marble. The man wants an Indian head penny encased in a marble.

I appreciate your thoughts guys - thanks!

Crip - the image is just impressed and lifted in a ghost image from the copper that was in the penny. I have the penny and tried to encase the zinc part - it cracked the glass! I guess one can not encase zinc - I am learning!
