Derek White aka D-Wreck just got his entire setup stolen last night in San Fran. A Mirage in great shape, tiny scuff on the center rear knob. as well as all his tools, graphite, gloves.........

Please be on the lookout. They were in a car that was stolen, so the thieves likely know little about the equipment

Is he still down there? I would keep a close eye on the pawn shops around the area. Probably a ton down there though.

that sucks, read about it on the other site. I wish I had some extra tools to offer, but all of my tools are borrowed..
I would definitely keep lookin at the pawn shops, ebay, craigs list for sure...hopefully it will turn up. Im sure you reported this to the cops, right? If so, then hopefully they will find the car quickly with everything in tact..HOPEFULLY

That getting to be a big time thing. There is platmium group metals in them and scrap yards pay $50-$75 a pcs for them. Because platnium is about $2000 something per oz right now. Wich the junk yards in turn sell to metal refiners for up to $150 each.
They like hitting big tricks and suv's because they have bigger ones and are high up off the ground. So they can get under it usealy.

2 guys in a crowded parking lot can hit just have one guy on the ground with a rechargable sawsall and cut on out in a minit or 2 and go right to the next one.

They like to hit fenced in lots to like inpound lots And just chuck them over the fence and get them after then hack them out from the bottom of te cars. Sence they are som e thing they can sell for a set market price they don;t have to find a buyer for them sence they are stealing them for metal.
Theres peep breaking in to hiuse and stealing copper out of the walls.
with copper being at close to $4 a pound and all the empty houses sitting with the for closed signs on the lawn.

the copper and the catalytic converter things are both getting way out of hand in my area. but what makes it worse is after a few thieves who are ahead of the game have been stealing shit like that for a minute the local news will run stories giving the thieves who are a little behind the idea to do the same so the game gets even bigger. im expecting crackheads to start shooting each other over copper and catalytic converters any day now.

My buddy owns a tow/junk yard and he said some cars he gets up to $300 dollars for cats. Thought I read something about they are going to stop making cats with platinum or have already stopped. Wish I could find the process to extract the platinum.

I have a solution for this shit... the government takes over drug manufacture and gives 'em out free, the damn crackies no longer have to steal to support their habit, freeing up society to deal with real problems and rehab for the ones who get smart and clean their act up.

Wish I could find the process to extract the platinum.

Crush the pellets, dissolve them in a strong solution of nitric and sulphuric acid, neutralize the acid, collect the salts that precipitate out, feed them into a blast furnace or use electricity to plate it onto a stainless steel sheet. Or better plate it to a platinum sheet and make it thicker.

or sell them by the truck load to a refiner for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and no wasted time or life span.

re: the rest of this shit...that's why I own a gun. Crack heads aren't immune to bullets.

I'll like the idea of using an electro plating machine to extract the platinum. My buddy who owns the tow yard and I were looking for info on how much platinum was available and trying to locate the process to no avail. If they are paying 300 dollars for it and it has 15 grams of platinum it maybe worth it to refine it if you have 50 to 100 cats to do at a time. I wouldn't mind stocking my safe with a few platinum ignots at half the current market rate.

Platinum Is up realy high right now. But thats compleatly a tempory thing as they are up greading the electric at the mines in south afica. So production is scaled back form a few months still. It takes a lot of electric to process it at the mines. and the 5 percet decreas in production has shot the price up over $1,000an oz this year.

But refining platmium you self can be a bit of a bitch as there are other metals in the convertes also that all have to be serated from each other. Like rodium tho thats also very valuable.

Plus most don't have a way to melt the pltminium once you get it out of the convereds and refined. So you you still end up haing to send it off your platmium off to a refiner to get paid for it. Tho they pay a lot more for it then the converters.

thx smutty thats part of what I wanted to know. I kind of figured it was a difficult process by the fact I couldn't find any solid information on the net for doing it.

Intill recently no one did any sort of home metals reclamation because of the prices being so low. Now every one is starting to do urban mining. But platnium is still some thing a lot of peep keep the lid on.
But a good source of info is to find infor on reclaims computer scrap. As you need to separat the gold from your silver and plamium from gold nd other metals. But they usealy refer to platium as Platium metal group. PMG's So you have to look for seperating PMG's or reclaiming PMG's

But this is whats driving peep to steal converters off of cars.

http://www.kitco.com/charts/liveplatinum.html

and rodium is up past $9,300 per oz right now.
http://www.kitco.com/charts/rhodium.html

So there is coniderable difrance that could be made recycling your own metals then even a year ago.

Urbin metal mining is becoming more populer then ever these days,
Even penny and nickle mineing is pretty profitable right now.

You can go to the bank and get all the pennyes and nickels the place has. and pick out all the pennies made befor 1982 as thes are almost pure copper and are worth almost 3 cents each just in copper value. And any nickles made rom 1946 before 2007 are made of nickel and copper and are worth almost 7 cents each.

There is even a coin sorter machien for 178 bucks that you dump your pennies or nickels in and the fake zink ones come out one chute and the real ones come out the other. Then you can take all the fake ones right back to the bank and get a whole new batch to do And repeat.
