I know most of you don't do any spun/lace/stitch work, but this is pretty sweet. Even doing this in sections woud be very difficult. I wish he had some close ups.
I've tried to make some larger ships the biggest being maybe an 1/8th this size and not this complicated. It was a bitch and I was not happy with it. The bigger the piece gets, the worse my stitches get.
The base is massive, makes me whonder if he stitched it all with a hand torch. I see a CC in one of the pics but I couldn't imagine maneuvering the hull and base around it.

I use to put these together in the 70's. The hull was made in Mexico, and we had to make the anchor and attach it to the base without a kiln to work with. My friend did the masts, and I attached the poles and all the rigging.
I did a 4 foot high ship in 1978-79 and my sister-in-law climbed through my window when she was drunk and knocked it off the table. It took me a long time to get over that one. Looking back on it, the only reason I did one that big was I had enough confidence after putting together 4 or 5 of those other ones, they were about 3 feet high, so I had to top that. I had only been doing glass for 3 years when I made that one, so it was pretty crappy, but impressive back then.

she gets around don't she
by the way, I can still do a pretty good stitched one, I have one here in my showcase, a smaller version. I did quite a few of the old viking style ships with the dragon heads on the bow and the tail off the stern
