Soon our forum will be 8 years old, on June 2nd! :confetti: :party: We’re hoping to have some contests/games to celebrate, and wanted to know if you would like to help out by donating an art piece, some glass, or whatever your fellow glass friend might want to win. If you’d like to do that please PM me and I’ll send you my address. ;)

Also our bills are coming up. While we have had it easier with the banner ads, donations would still help! So if you have something in your pockets you can give to the forum, here’s a url for paypal. (https://www.paypal.com/) Click on "send money" and Send to eugenerain@gmail.com and please put GLDG donation in the subject or note. And let me know your forum id if you send cash, you'll get a little red flame by your name for being a forum supporter. :clap:

You can Pm me if you'd like to donate by credit card. include your phone number and a good time to call.

If you want to mail something, PM me for an address. ;)

If anyone has an idea for a birthday game and wants to run one, feel free to come up with one!! And don't forget to bring a beer, hang out for a bit, and celebrate! I'll post more about celebrations when we know what we can do. :D This year June 2nd falls on a monday, so we'll probably have the celebration thread the following weekend to make sure more of you can show up.

What do you mean if the forum doesn't need something? :lol The forum always needs something, we have monthly costs, yearly renewals, and unforeseen costs that come up for repairs and what not. We didn't raise enough last year and I've been paying the forum bills out of pocket for the last 4 months. I only ask for forum donations once a year, and they didn't last the whole year.

A couple of you sent a few bucks already, you'll be flamed if you haven't been already. Thanks!!

Well, last year the donations went toward a shiny new server. Turns out they want us to pay them again this year. Who knew? It costs a couple hundred bucks annually in hosting and bandwidth alone to keep this place online (and that's if all the mods value their time at $0/hr). So yeah, donations are appreciated :D

thanks for the help, you guys are great! we appreciate it sooo much that our community is able to come together each year and chip in to keep this place going. our staff members are all about kicking down our time for free but there are a thousand other little things that add up to maintain a forum this huge.

believe me, nobody's making a profit off of running this place. in fact, the queen bee (misha) has to make up the difference and pay out of pocket for some of our expenses. the volunteer staff is donating cash and glass along with the rest of you because we all love this community so much. anything that you can afford to kick down is very helpful and greatly appreciated.

This forum is a great resource for us, I can see no reason why Misha should have to add financial support to the huge amount of work she does. Thanks Misha - and all the mods!!!! Hopefully this year the donations will break even with the years expenses.

this forum has helped me along the way for the last 4 years i think, i would not be the glassblower i am today without the help from many of you.

not having glassblowers around you can be very frustrating and this forum has been there for me to answer some stupid and some trickey questions int he past. the amount of knowlage thats on here now is increadable, seems like weve run out of torches to bash, torches to promote and colors to swear by. but it contiinues to grow and i love it!

Hi All,
I made a bunch of stuff this week as a donation to help raise money for the site, but I'd like the members help and input.

I'm a newbie with only a few months under my belt and I know many of you do this for a living.

How many times have you said "I wish I had a tool for this" well here's your chance!

Give me your ideas or links to tools you'd like to see in a raffled or auction to benefit the site.

I've never seen tool rests with large hole before, but I figured it would be good for larger tubes.

Hey can you make some mandrel holders like those for the kiln? It would be the mesh like kiln rack stuff, but it stands up so you can stick a mandrel end in it. Then you don't get sitz marks on your soft glass beads that went in hot.

How would you like the mandral holder made.
In just a L shape or more like a U shape with the rear side taller then the front side. The tip of the mandral would be placed in the holes in the rear side and mandral would just rest on the front side with your bead in the center.

Please give me an idea about the size you'd like!
