does anyone know where I might be able to find some tools in venice or murano, Id really like to bring home some new tools but the language barrier is proving difficult...

I'd say check Carlo Dona. Roberto, Carlo's son makes all the tools now (I think) but they're still really nice, and great quality....

Murano. Go over the iron bridge (facing Andrea Boscolo's shop, Non Solo Vetro) and go left. I think it's either one calle, or two down and hang a right, it's the 4th door on the left I think. Look for the CD logo on the door. Just ring the bell.

Or for better directions, just ask in one of the shops for directions to Roberto Dona's. :D

While you're there, be sure to check out Lucio's gallery/studio, and Cesare's gallery too. As well as Paulo Cenedese and Davide Penso... Scuola Del Vetro Abatte Zanetti is a cool spot on Murano as well... The Glass Museum has a ton of cool stuff in it too...

If you need more help, shoot me a PM...

Aloha and Ciao!

Little info about Murano from an older post I made...

Most of the non production studios on the island are not open to the public. You can try though to weasel your way in though... Check out the CAM gallery right by the Colonna stop and tell em you are a huge fan of Pino's work (even if you arent). They will take you upstairs to the "Pino Collection"- a whole floor of his work, INSANITY!, no joking around. Check out Cesares Gallery for sure, roam the streets and see what ya can find. The resturant by the bell tower is probably the best on the island....The Carlo Donna tool studio is right by the Venier boat stop on Calle Beroviero- bring lots of cash! In Venice, right off the Fondamenta Nouve boat stop is Vittorio Constantinis studio (5311 Calle del Fumo), check it out. He keeps all his most perfect peices for his own private collection which is on display, defenitely a sight to be seen. Go to San Marco sq and check out some of the galleries around there. If I remember correctly, the Pauly and Co. gallery was awesome.

From Carlo Donna I would reccomend his 16 point star mold, jacks, shears, foot/cup holder tool, and anything else that piques your interest. His tools are pretty expensive and with the weak dollar they will be even more pricey. If treated right, they will last a lifetime. If you have any other questions, PM me. I spent an extended period of time on the island...
