View Full Version : When the gun case is full?

Maybe I'm the only one with this issue because I don't get my butt out and sell enough...but...
I mostly make pendants and I have one large and one small pistol case that hold about 120 pendants total. Problem is that I have about 200 or so pendants at the moment and growing. I can't get out very often to sell on accowna two babies and a wife with a real job.
So, I have little containers filled with rice all over the place with pendants stashed in them. These suck to transport and dig through when I do sell. Pistol cases are $40 or $50 for a decent one and if I switch to a rifle case I already own, I fear I might bring the wrath of homeland security down on my ass when I stroll into an event. Unless I can convince them that I'm with "Winchester Glass" and I like to play guitar at craft shows.
Anybody else have this problem?

jewlers travel cases. they have the same outside as a guncase for the most part but they sit upright and have anywhere from 2-20 trays depending on size, with little insets of velvet for your pendants

string them all on piece of hemp rope and wear them around your neck. lol, ive seen a blower in the asheville area with 50 to a 100 pendants all on the same necklace.

i dont really think he tries to sell the ones around his neck, just trying to out hippie all the other hippies, which is pretty tough to do in asheville.

Well..........the next logical question would be "WHERE?"
I got my last one at Sportsman's Warehouse ('cuz ebay wasn't any cheaper). Real nice case, but $40-something.
Are the cases you get new?

yeah that does seem high, the most ive paid is like $15 for a really good one. the only ones ive seen 40 bucks and up are the fancy ones that have a metal shell with locks.

This is the bigger of the two I have. I guess it's a "multiple" pistol case...It holds about 75 pendants of varying sizes.

But I'll have to check out Wally World. I suppose I overlooked them because they were too obvious. And I tend to go all gung-ho when I shop for shit.
I got a rifle case from Dicks for like 30-35 bucks. It should hold like at least 100 pendants

I use a rubbermaid tub with snap and lock ends, holds 600 pendants, which
I've never filled, about $5.00 at wally. I put a sheet of bubble wrap between each layer, but thats not necessary. I dropped it once with a few hundred pendants, none broken. Its only about 8x12 in size

i got these things at the dollar store that are like plastic tackle boxes or screw holder things. just a clear plastic box with a snap shut lid and dividers with room for 12 pendants...
cant really go wrong at a buck each...toss some cotton batting or something in each hole and they look really nice. plus you dont have to open them to find stuff, and you dont have to walk around with a gun case

Bubble wrap?.......Huh? You know, that solution would turn just about any container into a pendant tote. I would thing you'd have to control horizontal sliding of the merchandise, though. Maybe weighted from the top?
I have about eleventy-million of those totes with lids, I just never thought about the bubble wrap. It doesn't look as cool as the locking, "what's he got in there," pistol case...but practical.

cotton batting...another good suggestion. The packing material is really the key. The case is more for looks than anything else.

I don't display them in the tub, its just for transporting, but it works, its only about 8 inches deep to, but like I said, I've had a few hundred in it and it wasn't even half full.

Yeah, I've never displayed in the case for real, but sometimes I am in an informal situation where I'm meeting someone who wanted to check out my stuff, often in public...people come over to ooo and awww. That is when the nice case is advantageous.
Or just rolling in to set up a show, there are always onlookers wondering what's coming out of the case. I guess I figure it adds to the perceived value of the goods. I might be wrong. Not like that many people see the case, but not many people see the underwear you have on....Calvin Klein does pretty good, nonetheless.
As it turns out, though. I'm kinda broke right now, so that's why I'm looking for the cheap alternative. I think I'll try the plastic tub thingy idea.

That would be the shit if they made one that carried three or four hundred pendants. I'll have to keep an eye out.

walmart man, I got a big plastic rifle case foam inside for 20$ same price i paid for large 2 pistol case at big 5
i live in a town with hundreds (if not thousands) of glassblowers. i love how the cops have had to get used to hippies carrying gun cases of all types. they don't even give us a second look anymore.

It is an ironic marriage. I love the juxtaposition.

I made my pendant display out of a plywood board 18x36 long, covered it with black non skid material, then had a frame shop make a frame for the wood part..looks eye appealing and gets a lot on there, just another do-it-yourself look.

I have said it before...but handgun cases from dicks, 2 levels to hold 4 handguns 16-20$ and you can put pipes under the pendants if you are trying to be stealth for the church ladies.http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2553156
Kinda like that only mine are black plastic...and cost me less than 20$ each depending on the time of year.
